1:09:33 you don't need to keep adding the 'added' qualifier; sugar is sugar to your pancreas. While you're at it, removing the word 'refined' when telling people to avoid grains will make a lot of suffering people healthier. Sorry big Pharma/Ag and WFPB ideologoues, but the planet and the genome need to heal, and the reality of the situation is staggeringly different than we were once told.

Great class❤ Here in Brazil, we also have this problem: the concentration in the agriculture industry, but we have The Landless Social Movement that produce organics. This Movement has many cooperatives and produce a lot,

The quote by Michael Pollan about dividing farms into two problems was itself a quote from Wendell Berry, which he acknowledged.

Farm bill solutions? Simply don’t subsidize corn syrup in any way. The question is if there is any politician out there who would take research and health seriously, is there any politician with convictions willing to do this?

Isn’t combining animal and plants in the system the best way known to capture carbon in the soil? Like regenerative practices? Isn’t that documented by the NRCS?

I guess my question would be how can it be said that conventional farming is more environmentally friendly when you take into consideration the inputs such as nitrogen based fertilizers which end up running off into water sources negatively impacting human populations and wildlife? And not just the fertilizer but so many chemical inputs such as pesticides, insecticides, and herbicides on and on.

I do not support the restaurant system and boycott it. There is no transparency in the ingredients used to make the food. I have food allergies and would rather stay at home and prepare and cook our food where I know what the ingredients are.

Are you a good person? Let’s check and see! Have you ever stolen? (Even if it’s something really small or not worth much) Have you ever lied? Or have you ever looked with lust ? Now, have you ever taken the Lords Name in vain? Have you ever hated someone? If you’ve ever done any of those things, you would be either a liar, a thief, an adulterer,(for looking with lust. See Matthew 5:28), a blasphemer(for taking Gods Name in vain), a murderer (for hating someone. See 1 John 3:15) or maybe even all of them. And that was only 5 of the Ten Commandments. Therefore we have all sinned against God and therefore deserve death.(Romans 3:23 & 6:23)That’s why ~2000 years ago a Savior was sent; Jesus Christ, to die for the sins of the world and then He rose 3 days later. Through His sacrifice He Paid The Fine for our sins, and made Atonement for the sins of the world. Now we can be made new by accepting The Gift of Salvation. In order to accept This Gift, we must first Repent. This is a change of mind about sin (from an embrace of sin to rejection of sin) and a Turning to God. Once you Repent, you can then turn to FAITH/TRUST in the Savior. A person who has truly Repented of their sin and has Trust in Christ will give evidence of a changed life. Therefore, as a Result of Salvation you’ll then produce Good Works and the Fruit of Salvation. (Reading the Word and Obeying It, Acts of Kindness, readiness to help, to serve, to give of oneself, The Fruits of the Spirit, etc.) You aren’t saved by doing Good Works, but you can then produce Good Works once you are Saved.

the issue with paying more for organic food, or alternative farming methods like vertical hydroponic farming, plant based n lab grown meats isn't the price of these types of foods. it is the subsidies being wasted on n stolen by big agriculture. if those subsidies were fairly n easily distributed to the aforementioned types of farming, the prices for the food being produced by those different alternative types of farming would be more affordable. of course there other factors like logistics, licensing, n accreditation. however, these factors can be easily solved by competent leadership. oh yeah there's another major factor, the lobbyists.

Organic is the biggest scam going, it was then and it is now in 2021. You can make tons of rules on what is organic but you have to police the system and there is no one policing the system. Michael Pollan should do a study on how screwed up the "organic" system is. You want to become an instant billionaire? just sell food with the terms "local, sustainable and organic and the highly educated people will spend all their money on that crap.

What stood out to me about this conversation with Dolores Huerta was when she talked about apathy. We cannot go on with the world in which we do not feel pain and compassion for the struggles of others - to say that we should be interested in understanding how they systems that rule our lives impact others negatively and do something to help change those systems. Something else that stood out to me was this idea of "hurting pockets" and how unfortunately for those with big pockets and interests in making profit out of people, that is the only way we can get them to address the issues at hand. There is a reason some people say the next revolution must be economic.
