We do Blue and Gold a little different. We do it as a huge mtg at the end of the year during all of the awards and usually do it as a camp out option. Utilizing the district camp and a bridge on site for our “official crossover”. Also recognize adults, leaders and have special guests.

I love the look of Scout Book Plus. My child and I are able to see everything related to his progress. I’m here to learn how it works and how to promote its use in troops that have not had good experiences with the earlier versions.

Can scouts go on a 4 hour deep sea fishing trip without having a swim test? ( 60 foot, 40-person boat)

Maybe you could add a double SPL as an option for a very rambunctious group, I heard several kids tell me that if their troops go coed, it will be too much for only one SPL depending on the size and age though

In the spring we actually ran out of the bobcat badges and the scout shop was willing to sell us the belt loops

I think the rules have changed on Webelos/AOLs camping with troops now in 2024. ???

Another disappointing scout change

We only got 1aol to our troop camp out. The next closest troop got 0... and ask the other local scouts BSA leaders I talked to in ie area got no response. Aug/Sept is too early for dens to be organized. I even made sure parents had info and not just den leaders, but back to school season is too hard on families. Plus it's popcorn season! But October-April is too cold for camp outs in the Pikes Peak area. Looks like our council won't have many AoL scouts who can make rank. 😢

I'm a 60 year old man who really doesn't enjoy reading, mainly because I associate it with school and work. I've never read for pleasure as I never found any pleasure in reading. I do however read a lot but never fiction, as life is too short to waste my time reading it. I like learning facts but have no interest in books that address emotions, feelings, the perspective of people who aren't like me, looking inwards at myself. My wife thinks this is sad and partially why my empathy (as she puts it) is not well developed.

How are you going to protect kids in Scouting when you are treating adults who were sexually abused as children by Boy Scout leaders like DIRT within the bankruptcy process? The Boy Scouts also hired the 535 Lobbying Group to cap future settlements for abuse that hasn't even happened yet! And they want to pay us adult victims pennies on the dollar for having our whole lives ruined. SHAMEFUL conduct. If you delete my comment I will file a formal complaint with KZbin and forward your act of coverup to the bankruptcy judge. I am tired of being swept under your rug of indifference.

Unfortunately they just don’t seem to get that the take rates on anything above $20 in many neighborhoods is simply laughed at. Our Pack has gone for an entire weekend of volunteer hours (three 8 hour sessions) and sold NOTHING. I get that there is a cost behind offering all of this and that national and council take their share. However when we sell $5-$10 products they fly out of the booth and many time we sell out.

No disrespect... those are not push ups with good form. Eighties era SEAL push ups were 1) back perfectly straight 2) legs and ankles held tightly and together 3) head held up 4)go all the way down to where your chest just barely touches the deck 5) you push up until your elbows are locked out. Eagle Scout here class of 1987. And no I am not a former SEAL but I know what the old school SEAL push up standards were in 1987...very strict.
