Work on your lighting, bud. The backlighting in the first portion of the video makes in nearly impossible to see anything. Some sort of light behind the camera would have helped a ton.

You have to be careful many MANY of these are fakes , like the ultimate G I would probably say it is a fake , as it has nothing on the handle other than the generic ultimate G , notice the classic has special color and says its. A golden trophy, also the black ones are being made by people not sure if any of them are actually from kirby .. i will check with kirby and see what they will say about them.

Thanks for sharing, almost purchased one back in the day, especially with their relentless infomercials. I always held back because I wanted a headlight on the power nozzle. I remember the Kenmore line in Sears...Around that time I was using a Hoover Spectrum 850 canister from 1991/1992 but then purchased a Hoover PowerMax canister around 1998 in hunter green...loved both Hoover canisters at that time.

Who’s idea was it to have a bagless commercial vacuum bagged vacuums are superior for commercial use in every way the only benefit I could see is that belts last longer than a sanitaire would but at that point you might as well get an oreck. Now with that being said I don’t hate fantom and I think they made great vacuums back in the 90s but I don’t understand the hype.

What a cool machine! I myself am a 1973 model, so I like stuff from this time. That woodgrain just screams 70's! My mom had a 1969 (or '70) Rainbow, and while the can itself didn't have woodgrain, right around when I was born, she got the carpet power head, which did have a thick strip of woodgrain. I myself have been infatuated with Kirby for 20+ years, when around 2002, my neighbor "practiced" his demo on me with an Ultimate G. I was gob smacked and hooked. The performance is awesome. It'll practically suck the nails out of the floorboards through the carpet! I couldn't afford it, though. I thought I'd never see another one. They are like the Rolls-Royce of vacuums! I've had 2 Kirby projects, a G5 (my first) and a G4. I don't have them anymore. So, I just bought another project - a Gsix 2001 Limited. I lost my leg to an amputation a couple of years ago and can't get used to the pain of a prosthetic. So, I'm in a wheelchair. I can't use much of any vac, especially a canister. The Tech Drive is a lifesaver for me. Plus, it's a throwback to the days of when you fixed stuff instead of throwing it away. Even the nastiest Kirby can be fixed - all the way up to a full restoration. TLC and elbow grease. The parts are very reasonable to buy, and you don't have to have a library of manuals and a degree in rocket science to fix it yourself. Just a little mechanical aptitude. Thanks. I'm not sure how many of our kind there are, but it's cool to see a kindred spirit.

Very interesting and rare Fantom. I agree it's hard to envision that being used as a commercial vacuum. I didn't realize Euro-Pro was still using the Fantom name as late as 2006. When did it become "Shark"' Euro-Pro? Anyway a great and enjoyable presentation!

I live in Australia and my parents had a CMS 1000 manufactured about mid 1989. It had the tool caddy on the top, which you could order separately and essentially stick onto the machine. The machine also came with dry carpet cleaning powder and Medley carpet freshener spray. I do remember that when the dust level reached near the white indicators on the bin, the cyclone performance reduced significantly and the pre motor filters started to clog and there was a noticeable suction drop off. These machine had no post motor filtration. From what I can gather, the CMS 2000 (sold in Aus and NZ) is essentially the same machine as the ClearTrak, just different names.

That's a nice Fantom Fury Special Edition. Even though the bin is not the original to this particular model as it came from a green 12 Amp Fantom, it still looks cool regardless. This might've been a refurbished model due to the different bin.
@Konstellation_Karl_5526 күн бұрын
Thank you! It is the original bin, it’s just super faded. A lot of the blue parts have faded to a lighter color over the years. Unfortunately the camera and lighting made it look more green than the blue color.

I’ve had this machine since the day we bought it new on 06/04/1973. Its never needed anything other than a few brush rolls and belts and three new power cords aside from a couple of routine maintenances done at the local Kirby dealership in the forty nine years that we’ve had it. I only use it one a month now to reset the nap of my wool area rugs by turning them over because I have some excellent premium vacuum cleaners that are lighter in weight like a Sebo G4 upright and a Miele Straight Suction canister vacuum with both a combination straight suction rug nozzle and a turbo driven brush nozzle that are easier to use but I find that every month the Kirby is assuring in my mind that it’s getting tiny specs of sand out of the rugs.
