I wrote "狐" in moon cave. I screamed when I saw it written all over Sei-an. The irony of the later boss made me scream again.

Soo... I wrote "狐" (Kitsune/fox) on my mask, and then suddenly Sei-An was covered in "狐". It gets worse after meeting ninetails. oh, the irony...

Kind of a shame that all we got for the Ark of Yamato was a boss rush. I would have liked it to be a full-on dungeon that truly put us through our paces with all of the brush skills we had picked up. But nope! Wawku Shrine was the final dungeon. I do like that some of the bosses got changed up a little bit - like how Ark Orochi still used his breath weapons fairly often during his second phase when True Orochi rarely did.

For reference, the Oina are a take on the Ainu, the aboriginal people of Japan, and also have a population in southeastern Russia. But like white folks did to Native Americans, the Ainu were treated like crap by the Japanese of the more southern islands, who forced them off their land and coercing them into assimilating into the dominant culture. I'm glad Okami treats the Ainu with dignity by making Oki a genuinely interesting character.

Kind of a shame that Ninetails has the potential to be incredibly easy if you have the right tools. In the first phase when you destroy its tails, you can take out an entire group of the broken-off tails with Exorcism Slips just by getting them to cluster together around you. You can blast each group away with one or two Exorcism Slip Ls. In the second phase once Ninetails was down to one tail and revealed its regular fox form, I just went ham with physical attacks from my Exorcism Beads, only using the brush to zap the fiend when it extended the sword from its mouth, which actually damages it as well as stopping its attack. I needed no other Brush techniques besides Thunderstorm.

There's an interesting dichotomy between Yami and Amaterasu that you may not realize - while Ammy is certainly more than she seems, while Yami is LESS than he seems. The true form of Yami - the thing that is in its core, is a small, probably helpless fish-like creature. Without that protective armor, and its dark power and its manipulations, Yami is nothing but a sad sack of evil meat.
