Fire video 🔥 I wonder if it would be possible to shorten up the intake manifold a bit? i think it will flow nicely, but its just so long to fit in the engine bay. A little fab work for a couple inches less could make all the difference in space.
@Edson-Pouchie22 күн бұрын
@@SolvingSaab that’s the thought or maybe get rid of the 45 on the runner and make it straight- I hear the g8 manifold will mock up better
@SolvingSaab22 күн бұрын
@Edson-pouchie Good thinking. Might be a good idea testing flow on both units before spending money on the fabrication. Either finding data or doing some sort of test to prove it flows better. Although one would assume the 3.6 should flow better because its a bigger engine requiring more air, the reality is it isnt always boosted like the 2.8s as far as i know. Maybe im overthinking it 🤣

@ yeah brotha I’m swapping a 2.8t into my 2006 Cadillac STS which originally had the 3.6 and is RWD. Engine bolted directly in with my oem RWD mounts and mates perfectly to my trans. Now I just have to actually build it😎 I’m just starting to get everything set up to be able to complete this project but it’s also snowy and freezing where I’m at so I have been pretty slow recently. I’m 100% starting the build within the next couple weeks tho and I’m very very excited.

What intervals are you using? What rods and pistons?
@RyanHar-r9v22 күн бұрын
@ probably going to get some forged 3.6 rods along with the 3.6 crank and for sure the wössner pistons. Your 3.2 build was the one that inspired me to take on that project so that’s probably what I’m going to do to start. I honestly would’ve done the full 3.6 build but I like how thick the 2.8 cylinder walls are
@Edson-Pouchie22 күн бұрын

Okay so you know... you might know.. might not.. the valve covers. One of them has a small vent hole. It's the big issue with the 3.6. Least what I was learning from keeping a eye on these motors from au guys. Need to make that bitch bigger so that side don't mess your build up. That's why one side is way dirtier than the other. Why people hated these motors they can't take care of them and they sludge up and poof timing chain.
@SolvingSaab26 күн бұрын
I am excited to see the finished product!!! Other people have been doing this, or at least trying. From what i have seen, other people get stumped on what to use for pistons and getting proper clearance. Plz let us know how it goes and what you use.
@Edson-Pouchie26 күн бұрын
I think people have been to caught up in using 2.8 heads im using the full 3.6 and just getting custom forged pistons made
@SolvingSaab26 күн бұрын
@ I completely agree. Because its an ly7 there are plenty of pistons around without using 2.8 heads, the problem just lies at the shape of the piston for turbocharging vs supercharging at that point. But if you are going full custom then you dont need to worry about sourcing the wrong pistons at all. 🔥 I might recommend trying to fit 2.8 valve covers on the 3.6. If im not mistaken the 3.6 has plastic covers stock 🤢
