@positivebacteriaculture
@positivebacteriaculture Жыл бұрын
Thanks I appreciate it! The microfreak is defently a capeable synth and is really versitale, you can pretty much create any synth sound you like with the right knowledge and its really a bang for the buck at the price range (and they keep on updating it). A synthesizer that can do a little bit of everything makes it very useful but also (to me) not very exciting. Its almost too good for its own good and also on the downside is that it do also need the backup from some pedals or effects in a DAW to not sound flat, but that goes for a lot of synthesizers. In this piece I have a distortion from the mixer and then routed through the Mood MKII and Strymon Nightsky.

I can tell the cat is enjoying the show, hah! Great stuff, dude! Quick question...kinda.. I have a Moog Matriarch and I've been looking at the Deluge. But, I've also been looking at the Octatrack & Squarp Pyramid due to their sampling and sequencing capabilities. I like the deluge for it's stereo sampling, polyphony, and sequencing capabilities. How are you liking the deluge (if you still have it that is)?
@positivebacteriaculture
@positivebacteriaculture Жыл бұрын
The Deluge is a very good with a semi modular setup (i now have matriarch, 0-coast, 0-ctrl and Strega) because of the CV, gate and midi out. Its great for creating sequenses and songs. And if you have an idea in your head its a good device to just plot it out on the grid. The synth engine is flexible but sounds kind of mjeh in my opinion. I havn't used it much for sampling tbh. On the old deluge the screen is really small and simple wich makes it very complicated to organize samples. But if you buy a new deluge this will be solved. The Deluge is easy to just get going doing easy songs and setups, but it does need some menu diving if you wanna reach its full potential, but there are a lot of video tutorials out there. I think the octatrack look as the better sampler/mangler though but the Deluge is a better sequenser (but i dont know). I don't always use the deluge for jaming but it can do pretty much everything in a setup, so its great to fill in were it is needed :)
@Tyler-Nagle-Productions
@Tyler-Nagle-Productions Жыл бұрын
@@positivebacteriaculture That's the answer I needed! I appreciate your response! I think I'm leaning more in the direction of getting one now. It seems much more immediate than the Octatrack and I don't think I'd be doing TOO crazy of mangling, especially since I can do a lot of mangling on the matriarch itself! Btw.... it sounds like you have an absolutely SICK setup, haha, props!
@positivebacteriaculture
@positivebacteriaculture Жыл бұрын
@@Tyler-Nagle-Productions yeah i'm pretty happy with my setup as it is and that is a good feeling :) I was also in the make and break between the octatrack and deluge, went for the deluge because it seemed easier to grasp. It did not disappoint but I found out I'm not a groove box kind of guy and i like hardware that is easy to grasp and dont have a deep menu. What you see is what you get is my kind of thing. But yeah as I said, I'm happy having the deluge because it always helps to have gates, midi and cv. But I'm using it more and more now than I did the first 2 years with it. I recomend watching this before buying though. kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJCYqmaunLp8js0

@@positivebacteriaculture Haha, I can imagine! I have a Roland TR-6S as my drum machine, as well. So, if I get the Deluge, while also having the Matriarch & Ableton.... I'll be set. Hopefully. Yeah, I'm right there with you. I don't really want to be diving menus all day. I've been doing my research for the past 4 months now, and I think I've finally made up my mind. So, I really appreciate your feedback, it's one of the best ways to do research imo. The CV and gate control seems like a friggin' amazing pair with the semi-modular stuff and the way the deluge presents that seems to be an easy to grasp concept. I'll definitely check out that vid, thanks for the recommendation & again for the reply. EDIT: Funny enough, I've seen that video! Definitely helped in my decision and the slight comedy spin the dude had was great.

Super nice!! Love the large ambience. What is the Mood MKII??
@positivebacteriaculture
@positivebacteriaculture Жыл бұрын
Thank you! The Mood is the purple little pedal you see down in the right corner in the end of the video. Its a micro looper/mangler with stereo effect (its the iery sound you hear paning back and forth from the beginning of the video and out during the whole song). It also comes with delay and reverb effects that is pretty good. Changing time signature on the pedal also change the pich of the whole loop and reverb wich in this song makes it progress an extra step than I would normally be able to with this setup. I would say it reminds me of Strega, everything you put in it get a particular sound coming out. But the mood is like the nice guy making everything sweet. Strega makes everything salt. It sounds great but with that said, Its an instant gratification tool. It does a lot of "eurorack things" but its in a box and you just twist some nobs and it is fun and sounds good but doesnt require much of a skill to use (i'm probably dunning krugering muself here) wich might be usefull but boring in the long run. Its great if you dont have the time and money for a full eurorack setup 🙂
@JPblasc
@JPblasc Жыл бұрын
Hey@@positivebacteriaculture thanks for the super detailed explanation. I think non-eurorack instrument have the advantage of being ready for use anytime (as opposed to the effort you have to put into eurorack just to get a synth voice going). I guess the sweet spot is a combination of both worlds (which I suspect the Matriarch and your Make Noise synths achieve).
