I’d love to do stuff like that, but not sure where to start. Where do you recommend going for someone who’s done lots of street riding (wee bit of dirt on a dual sport) but wants to do enduro/single track out in the borders?

I don't know of any borders trails myself, but would image there would be some enduro clubs and Facebook groups that may be able to help you out for that area. Google maps (satellite view) is excellent for searching out potential places to ride. 👍

Nice bike there , i have 16 320hrs . Have you moved the clickers on the kyb stuff yet , i know on that slow stuff and more i had taken 4 clicks of comp and rebound out from stock settings front and back for that type of riding . Amazing , even 6 out on all , as for the fast flowing single track stock settings you can smash just about anything on those bouncers . Setting the sag all important too. i will shut up know , enjoy , nothing better .

At 16:35 if you would've turned left and then turn right into this quite hidden trail into the woods which goes along a fence it would've taken you to some more trails and also allows you to get the the Bing and mx track. Ive been there a few times but not been for a while but i remember all the trails so maybe sometime I could show you around and also you might remember me from broxburn as not that long ago you helped me out when i over shot the climb and i fell off on the ledge near the top of the bing.

Have you done anything to your forks? I'm only using half of the stroke on my 2022 and my shoulders are in agony after a days trail riding. Compression and rebound are all the way out, bled the air and straightened the forks already. Planning to re-valve it but can't find any info from someone who's done it to a WR already. PS Thanks for the lighter clutch mod video. No more wrist pain 😁

silly question for enduro society. I wana have fun in woods and do some soft enduro. at the same tie I don't like heavy bikes, but want it to be reliable as hell haha so my choice is in between yz85lw - JERKY, but 70kg like a nice pit bike! maybe I'll fall in love with 2 stroke?=) wr250f/yz250fx - HEAVY but predictable 4 stroke, puffy as hell! maybe I'll adjust to it's weight?=) any opinions ?
@freedombehindbars
@freedombehindbars 4 ай бұрын
Weight is only an issue when picking a bike up regularly....(Hard Enduro) The Heavier bikes are planted and steer sharp so make good woods/single track bikes, but can do a bit of everything else aswell. Forget the 85's they're made for tracks etc /wide open throttle.. . Lack of bottom end soon become annoying. The wr250f is the all round bike, reliability and performance, don't feel heavy when moving 5mph+, but not as light feeling as 2Ts when crawling.... You should consider a beta X Trainer 300 (7/8ths size bike) slightly lighter and lower than the 4t's, can add RR front pipe and a couple of free mods to make it a weapon... Characteristics of a light 2t, But torque of the bottom like a 4t.....😉 kzbin.info/www/bejne/bIKoh42CgLGdjbssi=p9CS9St-MQNCIRKe kzbin.info/www/bejne/r6nHZ2Z3q7aNitksi=Vv_zTwSKe8oW8Wz-

@@freedombehindbars I'm not sure i can give enough parts for beta or hq or ktm. That's why i was looking for a Yamaha and japanese bike in general. I live in us btw. And 300cc 2 stroke omg is it too powerful for a beginner?😅 Yeah, I've heard about lack of low torque on yz85 (oe kx100/112) but I was told they have it after the power-valve added . Did you try it with valves?
@Alex-gn6xb
@Alex-gn6xb 4 ай бұрын
Omg beta is soo good! What about reliability? Cuz wr ppl call apocalypse bikes . They cost a lot to buy , but last forever . And i was told if i wanna ride more than wrench i need wr 250f 😄
@freedombehindbars
@freedombehindbars 4 ай бұрын
There's a 250 as well, but no so powerful with stock exhaust, check them out on YT. You can then add the RR exhaust to make it a wee ripper. Never owned an 85, and wouldn't bother messing with it, would just upgrade to the next level bike.👍

@@freedombehindbars tbh im afraid a heavy bike will break me something when we fall hah. And we will 100% 😅 i don't mind to pick it up. Ah, and the second reason is fun , it's more fun to ride a light weight bike I guess. I have ridden bikes for 10 h only and i remember the small one was more fun. But a 200cc was soo puffy haha
@6Twisted

It's going well so far. I forgot to disconnect the battery and almost bump started the bike taking the clutch springs out. Then I dropped a washer into the clutch basket but eventually managed to fish it out with a magnet. Then I snapped a bolt because my old torque wrench is out of spec. 🥲

😯 having no luck by the sounds of it ... Upside is once done you'll have a lovely light clutch that will easily make up for the inconvenience 😁

@@freedombehindbars What map are you running yours in though? I have a max advanced timing map that is quite a bit more powerful than stock. I'm starting with 1.5mm washers.
@freedombehindbars
@freedombehindbars 4 ай бұрын
@@6Twisted stock maps as the difference between them is deal for me. Adjusting the mapping has minimal change to power output, (the increments are are fine and range is small- just how it delivers will feel different.) You could fit an exhaust/ power filter kit and map to suit, gaining 5-7 hp as per yz450f Vs Wr. The clutch will have been designed such that it can handle that and more.
@6Twisted
@6Twisted 4 ай бұрын
@@freedombehindbars Oh there's a huge difference between fully advanced and retarded timing. Fully advanced it power wheelies in 5th, fully retarded and it will barely clutch up in 4th. Anyway I just went and tested with 1.5mm washers. Popped the clutch in 5th with the throttle wide open and no slip with fully advanced timing.

@freedombehindbars
@freedombehindbars 4 ай бұрын
Hi Bud, No it doesn't in my experience on the 450, it would eventually at some point but a few 1mm washers won't be enough to cause it to slip. I would say the 250's probably have lighter springs to start with and from feedback on wr uk forum, 1x1mm seems to be ideal for them. I use 2x1mm on the 450 for approx 20% lighter... that will probably feel similar to 1 washer on the 250's.

Just a thumb title, I did call it forgotten track as I've not been there for about 15 years or so with the minibikes... Was Rob Ord (hopefully got that right, correct me if I'm wrong it's been a while) I believe who owned it, we used to pay a fiver back then 🙂 Honestly thought it hadn't been used for years (by the looks of how grown in it was) and due to lack of access with train station and new house builds close by. We only popped by for a look (curiosity) for about an hour.... Seen 3 other bikes but that was it ... So yes, technically got permission years ago 😅 Hopefully that still counts😯😁
