Yes I do remember this song was released in the early 60's when I was a kid. In 1963 when I was 7, that summer my mom and I flew down to Durango, Durango Mexico to visit relatives. My grandmother's nextdoor neighbor had a radio and the AM Top 40 stations played a lot of the popular American hit songs but they were sung in Spanish and the lyrics were interpreted differently in Spanish. I remember hearing 'Mr. Custer' back then in Mexico, same music but different lyrics in Spanish. Ok, I found the Spanish version of 'Mr. Custer' titled 'No Senor Apache' by the band Los Apson. It's uploaded here on KZbin. Do check it out!

There is great wisdom in this simple pretty song. We would be wise to realize that what is present will pass so to keep loving and/ or assisting in a positive way the folks whom we encounter. ✌️ Peace ✌️ on Earth. God BLess.

White-Man-Runs-Him and the other Indian Scouts working for Custer actually did ask the “Great” “General” Custer to leave right before the Battle of Little Big Horn with the foresight that this wasn’t gonna end well. And were relieved/deserted. So this song is potentially historically accurate as one can imagine a piss scared pony soldier asking Mr. Custer to leave too after seeing the Indians running for the hills. (White-Man-Runs-Him no less.)

My grandfather used to play this song when we were kids and would spend the summers with them. The whole 6.5 hr car ride he would play this the whole time for us, and each time they said "Charlie duck your head" he would duck. His name was charles. Sadly he passed away on my bday a few years back and I listen to this song and smile

Just wanna throw my 2 cents in : I'm a Proud Cherokee Man , like my Father before me , and WE Both Loved The Washington Red Skins ! They were OUR Team ! Named in Honor of OUR People , with a Strong , Proud Native American Warrior as their Symbol ! And what no one seems to realize is by forcing them and The Cleveland Indians to change their names All they're doing is extending the atrocities of the past , trying to Erase US from the past , from history , from the country ! At least when people Saw The Washington Red Skins and The Cleveland Indians they remembered US ! Well , Thank You for letting me get up on my soap box

A wonderfully hilarious song! I believe this is a later take from the original- The off-mic voice that shouts "Forward Ho" used a Indian sounding warble on the word "Ho" on the original plus the spoken word parts had a different phrasing (funnier, I think) thnx for posting

“The Skin Horse had lived longer in the nursery than any of the others. He was so old that his brown coat was bald in patches and showed the seams underneath, and most of the hairs in his tail had been pulled out to string bead necklaces. He was wise, for he had seen a long succession of mechanical toys arrive to boast and swagger, and by-and-by break their mainsprings and pass away, and he knew that they were only toys, and would never turn into anything else. For nursery magic is very strange and wonderful, and only those playthings that are old and wise and experienced like the Skin Horse understand all about it. "What is REAL?" asked the Rabbit one day, when they were lying side by side near the nursery fender, before Nana came to tidy the room. "Does it mean having things that buzz inside you and a stick-out handle?" "Real isn't how you are made," said the Skin Horse. "It's a thing that happens to you. When a child loves you for a long, long time, not just to play with, but REALLY loves you, then you become Real." "Does it hurt?" asked the Rabbit. "Sometimes," said the Skin Horse, for he was always truthful. "When you are Real you don't mind being hurt." "Does it happen all at once, like being wound up," he asked, "or bit by bit?" "It doesn't happen all at once," said the Skin Horse. "You become. It takes a long time. That's why it doesn't happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand." "I suppose you are real?" said the Rabbit. And then he wished he had not said it, for he thought the Skin Horse might be sensitive. But the Skin Horse only smiled. "The Boy's Uncle made me Real," he said. "That was a great many years ago; but once you are Real you can't become unreal again. It lasts for always.” ― Margery Williams Bianco, The Velveteen Rabbit . . . "The single desire for every stray, it to be loved. " - Unknown Will
