Hi. Please forgive me (I am a self confessed rivet counter) but the front number plate is too high. If you look at the loco side on it should be just slightly above the name plate. Not your fault obviously but a bad fault by Hornby spoiling what otherwise appears to be an excellent loco. Sorry, it would drive me crackers!

Dapol cater for N Gauge too. I have a Dapol N Gauge SR Gunpowder Van in my collection to prove it. I've already followed in Alfie's footsteps with N Gauge. My new railway won't be operating till November. If you'd like an N Gauge railway of your own, go ahead.

Who doesn't love No. 9? Sadly, we will never see the real engine on our main line network again. It would be good if you could find the other four preserved A4s, two of which reside in America, but it all depends whether we will see them in model form. Sweet & Steamy.

As there are only two brands being compared, it should be "Who makes the better Manor Class Locomtive?" If you want to ask "Who makes the best.." you would need to compare the versons made by all brands that produce a Manor Class locomtive.

In terms of looks the Accurascale wins hands down as it looks like a manor - the Matterhorn boiler/firebox situation and the boiler looking too high in the frames kills the Dapol manor for me.

Just a thought, slow speed running is important for shunters; High speed for mainline work. Yes, a good total range would be best, but that is not always an option.
@ryanjohnball23

I suspect that the "which is better" depends on what you want to do with it. I buy for running on exhibition layouts, and my stuff has a hard life. NOTHING from Accurascale in my collection (13 items so far) has yet failed to have bits drop off in use- to the extent my Accurascale Deltic has been sold on as I daren't run it. Dapol stuff is still in front line service- and that means well over 50 locos in two scales. Why not run them intensively and look for the better survivor?
@ryanjohnball23
@ryanjohnball23 2 ай бұрын
My locomotives do get run pretty often so maybe in the few years my judgement will change. But both seem to run well and the Accurascale Manor seems pretty well built , or at least my example is anyway. Thanks for watching :-)
