Oh, man, this was IT back in the day. Populous II was the first Populous game I ever played. The intro to each map, "Get ready to die, mortal!", the Papal Magnet and the freaking knights duking it out! And then Populous the Beginning on PC was absolute FIRE! Bullfrog Entertainment had some of the most amazing titles!

The algorithm brought this to me. I'm bringing my wii back and getting back to playing this again, that's it 😂😂

I had no idea who any of the non Sonic characters were when I first played this game. So recognizing them all now is a great feeling.

Placements in the race: 1st: Sonic 2nd: Dr. Eggman 3rd: AiAi 4th: Amigo 5th: Ulala 6th: Jackie and Akira 7th: Ryu Last: Tails (he would've gotten a higher placement if Dr. Eggman didn't attack him) Before anyone questions why I put Amigo ahead of Ulala, slowing down the video when they're crossing the line shows the orange of Amigos' car cross the line before the white of Ulalas' vehicle so Amigo was able to pass her at the last second

This intro, is the most intense intro for a kart racer, and I LOVE it. First of all, it just feels like everyone’s just enjoying the heat of the racing action, of course there’s mini rivalry’s here and there like, c’mon now, you can’t tell me you’d be annoyed if someone started ramming into your car FOR A BANANA. And yes, I know, Dr Eggman, who I’m just gonna call Robotnik because I like that name a little more then eggman lol- I know Robotnik tries to blow up tails with missiles but that’s Robotnik, if you stand in his way blud is literally just gonna blow you up. And the scene at the end? Yes, THIS scene? 1:23 Is wayyy to awesome and SHOULDNT be ignored. First of all, sonics manoeuvres are bloody crazy as hell, he not only just flies over TWO drivers from the sheer impact of the kart hitting the floor, but manages to DRIFT pass everyone no questions asked. like- he doesn’t even NEED to footrace, sonic can just speed his way through everyone, Then we have bloody eggman doing a wheelie at the end, I love eggman sometimes, he has his moments. We need more kart racers kinda like this in our lives, crossover or not, I just want intense intros like these, and for people to go all out with their concept. Don’t add to much to a kart racer, but chase your dreams, speed right after them like your drafting behind them in a race. Also, imagine how cool the race in the intro would be? Yes, I know, it probably was only made for a cinematic or was like scrapped, because I can’t find this ANYWHERE in the game lol But this would’ve been awesome as some sort of one-off track in the game.

14 years later, this is still one of if not the best kart racing games I've ever played. There are 24 maps with 20+ racers (if you count bonus characters), a personalized bullet bill equivalent for each racer, and some of the best controls I've used. This game is one of the all-time best racing games and I really hope they revisit it or at least remaster it with a new engine.

Looking back it’s actually kinda crazy how there wasn’t a single yakuza or puyo puyo character in this game but we got ones from dead series like billy hatcher and bananza bros

For anyone interested, I play the Steam version now on my Steam Deck, who would have thought when the game released!

If this came out today, I have no doubts that either Kiryu, Majima, or Itchy Balls would be here
