i am trying to find out regarding the accessibility scheme if it is possible to sit whilst waiting, especially if we cannot bring chairs/stools etc. there's no information on this anywhere. it's bad enough that it's a half mile walk for people with mobility problems, let alone being forced to stand for possibly hours. it's impossible.
@dcms2 жыл бұрын
You can find information here - www.gov.uk/government/publications/attending-ceremonial-events-for-the-lying-in-state-and-the-state-funeral-of-her-majesty-the-queen/her-majesty-the-queens-lying-in-state-at-the-palace-of-westminster-houses-of-parliament#accessibility

@@dcms this information is not there, and i have also googled it and looked on various social media. the information for pw disabilities is scant and inconsiderate and ableist. i just want an answer to a simple question - two, preferably - what i've asked above because the information has not been given so as to help pw disabilities plan! if the information was there i would not need to ask.......

@@playgirlc there are a few seats along the way but not many - that is on the regular route but there was an older gentleman around near me and he pretty much walked from seat to seat (without queuing) and then waited each time for his party who stayed in the queue to catch up. That was pretty much all along South Bank ... less on the last drag. If you are wheelchair bound though then I saw several people being pushed along a separate accessible pathway once we crossed the river. If that's of any help.
@playgirlc2 жыл бұрын
@@AthelstanEngland i really appreciate your response, thanks. i'll be going alone as my other half can't come with me. ordinarily he mightve pushed me in my wheelchair as i can't propel myself. basically i can walk short distances before needing to rest but cannot stand for more than a few minutes. the website have given such little information and not much consideration has been given to people with mobility issues at all. and no-one seems to be responding to all the people asking similar questons. what they replied to above is the ONLY response i've seen. it's even worse when people don't know and can't plan.
@AthelstanEngland2 жыл бұрын
@@playgirlc I did see a few people being pushed by stewards near the zig zag paths (in gardens immediately before the hall) but can’t say for sure if that was just to meet up with able bodied friends or an individual like yourself. If you can get to the accessible kiosk or the entrance to the park with your wheelchair then I’m pretty sure a steward will be able to push you. I saw one being sent to rescue a walking stick/seat from security for example so they are there to help not just direct traffic. Good luck.

Worth every moment. Took me about 6.5 hours. Joined back of queue near Millennium Bridge at 2:45am and got to see Her Majesty about 9:15am. Pretty easy as queue moving all the time. If you get a chance I urge you to go.

Started at Blackfriars at 6.15. crossed Lambeth bridge at 9. Went into the hall at 11.00 and left at 11.15. 5 hours in total. I think first thing in the morning might be best considering other folks times. I assume the difference is more staff doing the security checks during normal hours vs. overnight.
