Just started this kit 2 days ago. Just started back into the hobby after 35 yrs, probably going to do Green camo version. Not confident in doing all aluminum scheme.
@shadowsixcreations4256 ай бұрын
I did a B-29 years ago and putting the aluminum down with a brush is not easy and definitely not my favorite. An airbrush or a good quality chrome spray can of it works well. I do plan on doing a P-51D with aluminum since it's been a long time.

You frequently mention Hobby Lobby and for the first time today I actually bought a model there. I was surprised at the number of Star Wars related kits they had, and I got a Mandalorian! The 40% off sale was a big factor.

Hey, David, good to hear from you. Good luck with the Mrs. and her surgery. Did you say you got some small trees at Harbor Freight? Do they have other diorama supplies?
@shadowsixcreations425 Жыл бұрын
I just realized I did say harbor freight! I actually meant hobby lobby, they had a good variety of trees, bushes, dead fall, and they even have diorama bases. Harbor Freight had a nice 6 piece tweezer set and a 12 piece file set. I think I paid about 8 bucks for those.
@roberth5767 Жыл бұрын
@@shadowsixcreations425 I have a Hobby Lobby very close by, but there are no true modelling stores that are easy for me to get to. There is a Hobby Town, but it is about 45 minutes of city driving away. Whenever I travel I always look for a hobby shop that is not too far out of the way. We went to San Antonio for a convention last Feb. and that's where I looked up Dibble's Hobbies and they had a very nice selection of 1/35 & 1/72 scale military models as well as diorama stuff.

The Tiger is 1/48 scale, right? Where do you get your Citadel paints? I'm sure Hobby Lobby doesn't carry them.
@shadowsixcreations425 Жыл бұрын
So the citadel paints I get from the Warhammer store near my in laws, a local game store about 20 minutes away, or online. The tiger is 1/48 scale and the figurines are also 1/48. The mat and base were both at hobby lobby and the grass mat is great quality, durable, easy to work with.
@roberth5767 Жыл бұрын
It's nice to hear from you again. Good luck with your surgery! It's hard to tell from the video, but the Tiger and figures appear to be 1/72 scale, while the KW is 1/48.
@shadowsixcreations425 Жыл бұрын
It's awesome to hear from you as well! Actually the tiger and figures are 1/48 as well and honestly I don't think I want to do 1/48 figurines as much since they are definitely a challenge for my recovery hands!

"The MG 42 proved to be highly reliable and easy to operate. It is most notable for its very high cyclic rate for a gun using full-power service cartridges, averaging about 1,200 rounds per minute compared to around 850 for the MG 34, and 450 to 600 for other common machine guns like the M1919 Browning, FM 24/29 or Bren gun. This ability made it extremely effective in providing suppressive fire, and its unique sound led to it being nicknamed "Hitler's buzzsaw." Many of the design elements of the MG 42 went on to be used in the US M60. From Wikipedia.

How do you think the Citadel colors will work on WWII armor and figures? Or will you stick with Vallejo or Tamiya?
@shadowsixcreations425 Жыл бұрын
I haven't experimented too much with it yet. Citadel rust paints are very vibrant but I think, for example, their dry brush rust paint will work great. Their contrast I feel would be fantastic for uniforms and some skin tones. I have practice models that I use to experiment on and once I get a good idea on how they'd work I will do a video. I plan to definitely stay with tamiya and vallejo because they have the historic line for world war one and two. I've met other hobbyists who don't like vallejo as much because the paint tends to flake off at time but I enjoy vallejo

I used to paint the piece while still on the sprue. Then I'd have to go back and touch it up when I snipped it from the sprue. Then I was having problems getting a painted part to stick to a painted body. Now I just do all the gluing first, except for the heads, and then the priming and painting. This method requires a pretty steady hand and that's where I'm running into problems now. Oh well, it's still fun.
@shadowsixcreations425 Жыл бұрын
I do the same thing a lot of the time, especially the head of my figurines. I will paint the whole head in its base coat and then snip it off. After that I'll clean the mating surfaces with a coarse hand file or sandpaper rod.
