さいこう! Sorry, my japanese is beginner level, I know only a few words and phrases so I will answer you in english. I'm so glad to hear that I inspired you to start playing! I wish you the best of luck in your endeavour. Please keep me updated on your progress! Also, I will say, I have not given up on making videos. For personal reasons I have not been able to lately. Hopefully soon I will post a new video.

Beautifully played♥ Hi, I am thinking about practicing this tune ,too. I also started learning lever harp in 1917. My first harp teacher advised me to record every tune I practiced. My smaller harp is Dusty Strings.♪
@harpandwhiskers63774 жыл бұрын
Hi! Oh my... you must be very old if you started playing in 1917! 😜 😉 It's a wonderful piece for learning and fun to play. It's good advice your teacher gave. I find sharing my playing especially, to be a good motivation to keep playing. But obviously seing yourself play is good for so many reasons!

Hello and thank you for your helpful video! I was wondering: do you know whether you can you the case 'backpack' mode? Thank you so much :D
@harpandwhiskers63774 жыл бұрын
Hi Rosella! There are backpack straps available from Dusty Strings, for the bag. Mine didn't come with it. I would personally think that the harp is a little big and heavy to carry on your back though. But it might work for you 🙂

hello there can you plz help a random guy i have few questions how tall are u ? it looks big almost as tall as u , is it carryable on ur back ? i plan to get this and travel by plane ? so i dont know if i can carry it with me ? do you think it would be safe and well protected in that bag ? idk if i should get the smaller one with 26 strings only but those base melodies are too good , im kind of worried it would get damaged in the process , if u could help that would be nice thanks
@harpandwhiskers63775 жыл бұрын
I think it's possible to put backpack straps on the bag but mine didn't come with it. Though the harp is kinda heavy to carry on your back I would say. At least for me. I'm about 164 cm but the harp isn't really close to that in hight. I think if you intend to fly with the harp you might actually be required to have a hard flight case for it and I wouldn't count on it being safe without one. The smaller harps might be better for your purpose. I think the Harpsicles for example are possible to carry as hand luggage. I would suggest a smaller harp if you need to travel with it. But yes the lower register is lovely and rich in the bigger Ravenna. I wish you good luck in finding a harp suited for your needs.

Thank you! I take lessons once a week. I'm lucky to live in a big city area where there are at least some teachers available. A lot of the time you can find a teacher who will do Skype lessons. But yes, harp lessons can be expensive. I hope you'll manage to save up eventually. The feedback is priceless!

@@harpandwhiskers6377 I work full-time so I will invest my money into music. Do you think one lesson a month will be enough or do you think weekly lessons are best? It seems to be benefiting you as your technique looks so good.
@harpandwhiskers63776 жыл бұрын
I think one lesson a month is way better than no lessons 🙂 Most of the work is just practice a lot and that you do more effectively on your own. So long as you have someone to nudge you in the right direction every once in a while. Do you teach yourself at the moment?

hi harp and whiskers! I have a couple questions for you since I’m just starting to consider renting or buying a harp for myself! Do you take lessons? And how did you chose your harp? Thanks for taking the time to make these videos, they really inspire me!
@harpandwhiskers63776 жыл бұрын
Hi there! How wonderful that my videos help to inspire you! That is my hope and intention when making them. I do take lessons once a week. Going in to this I really had no experience with harps or with any other instrument at all really. So basically I just wanted an affordable harp that sounded okay. Harps are expensive and I didn't know if I would enjoy it after all. If I would have been prepared to put in more money I would have bought a 34 string harp since there are less limitations to what pieces you can play. If possible, try different harps with different string tension etc. and take in consideration what kind of music you want to be able to play. Other than that, follow your gut feeling! I wish you luck! 😃🎼
@wicolous6 жыл бұрын
wow this is great! This really inspired me becuse all the people on KZbin look very advanced and crazy good and it seems impossible for me to play the songs they are playing. But I love having you here and seeing you progress. Let’s me see that maybe I can play the harp!
@harpandwhiskers63776 жыл бұрын
That's what I've been feeling too and still do! Don't be discouraged and know that these people put many many hours into practice to get where they are. The main thing I think is to go in with a more playful mindset and do it for the fun of it. Set tiny goals and it will be easier to recognize your progress! I believe in you! 💪 Thank you so much for your comment 💗

How are you coming along playing the harp? I hope to rent one within a few months and start my journey learning to play. I expect it’ll take me longer to learn since I’m very much older than you, but it should be something I can enjoy through my golden years. Will you be sharing anymore videos with us? BTW, I’m following you on IG; I’m DesertTorchDesigns. I hope you’re still playing.🤗

Hi Suzanne! I am still playing! I have a new video in mind that I'm going to be making in the coming days. Also there will be some other stuff that I'll try and film since I have a new harp purchase coming up and some other harp events. I'm glad to hear you're picking up the harp! I'm sure you will enjoy it. It's a lovely instrument to play since it sounds beautiful no matter what you do 😃 I think sometimes it can actually be a benefit to learn as an adult. It's easier to set realistic goals and stay motivated. At least I find it so.
