The Album, this very album, that began my lifelong "map" of loving Neil, his music, his band, and 46 of his world renowned, electrifying concerts. Yes, this album began it all for me ❤❤❤❤❤

Far and away , the greatest in-concert performance and recording in the rock genre. From the opening ‘stage right’ notes from a cello (yes, you read correctly) through that m-a-g-n-i-f-i-c-e-n-t prologue under the baton of the, then, 23-years young (!-think about that?) musical prodigy - Lee Holdridge, and then diving from that high board of sumptuous sounds courtesy of Mr. Holdridge and that orchestra of top-class players into the electric guitar lead of the great, Richard Bennett; who himself, was only 19 years-young on that night (it say’s s great amount about Neil’s insightful ‘taste’ and confidence in and for talented colleague’s) and on to a myriad of emotions, moods and a kaleidoscopic musicality through ballads, ‘pop’ in it’s purest (his most electrifying ‘Cherry, Cherry’ version as sampled here) into, what would become ‘Great American Songbook’ land with, likewise, his most complete ‘take’ of ‘Sweet Caroline’ with his phrasing beyond comparison. And three sides to follow … How this recording continues to improve over time; like the best wine in a great year - is beyond me … but, somehow it does .

Neil Diamond is my favorite singer by far. I have other musicians that I like, but they all trail Neil. I can't tell you how much joy this man's music has brought into my life.

This song was in the Paul Newman/Joanne Woodward movie 'WUSA' 1969. Paul Newman not only was the star but also an executive producer. I thought he must have liked the song and Neil Diamond if he put it in the movie. I think that's great.
