Lovely design, and I can't wait to try it. I'm impressed that you can talk and quilt at the same time! New subscriber. Thanks for your excellent teaching.

QUESTION Do you bring up your thread on domestic machines, or only on with a long arm????
@marygoroundquilts6 ай бұрын
@@lynnlegault9297 I being up my thread on both the domestic and longarm. I don’t want the string to get caught in the needle on the back of the quilt.

@marygoroundquilts Жыл бұрын
Think of it as a wave or a snake of that helps. Or going through a squiggly maze.Then you’re not thinking of an upside down S and getting confused

Thank you so much for this video. This was just what I needed to finish my quilt and you made it easy enough that I was actually able to do a good job. I've done a loopy meander, but never gotten beyond that. You took my quilting a step further.

This is exactly what I was looking for. I made a fall sampler quilt and I’ve been stumped on how to quilt it. I was ready to go to the old standby meander but I think I can make this work. Wish me luck!

You can do it! Give it a try on paper first and you’ll be good.
You make it look really easy! I love the design and will practice so I can use it (I hope).

I would like to know if wearing the gloves help. I'm just starting to do my own quilting on my quilts. Very large learning curve but will master someday.
@marygoroundquilts Жыл бұрын
Rena, I recommend getting gloves if you find you can't grip/move your quilt under the needle easily. My hands are more dry so gloves really help me with keep control of the quilt.

Love watching you quilt! I don’t know why I’m so afraid to try free motion quilting you make it look so darn easy! Do you preplan what designs you are going to put in each section or just decide as you go?
@marygoroundquilts Жыл бұрын
Hi Kathy. Yes I do pre plan. I lay my quilt on the floor after it’s basted and start thinking of designs. Whether to do an all over. Sometimes it stays there for days until inspiration strikes. Ha

When you quilt where do you start quilting. In the quilt center and work to outer edge, or the top center and work to outer edge

Thank you for showing me an easier design to quilt as a beginner. I have have my sit down Bernina Q20 since Sept 2020 and only until I discovered your videos, have I turned the machine on to use it. I have a question: I am trying to quilt a Bookcase Quilt. I used a meandering stipple for the background. Now I am worried about doing the bookcase itself. I am considering leaving it unquilted, because I am too inexperienced to try a design that might look like a wood grain. Do you think that will be okay? Thank you for your helpful videos. Jenifer

Sorry for the late response. I think the stipple all over would be great. Or unquilted if you like will be fine

Mary, I recently signed up to start receiving you emails. Thank you for posting this Q&A. Carol is such a lovely lady. I enjoyed learning about her and her Improv quilts. Her ideas on Sustainable Stashing are reasonable, down-to-earth (literally), common sense thoughts. Thank you Carol for bringing us back to reality. We sometimes get carried away with all the wonderful eye-candy that is abundantly accessible these days. We really do need to learn self-control or I should say "stash-control."

Yes, I keep thinking about using my stash first I’ve gotten a little better.
