I treat movie games like movies, if they interest me, I watch the playthrough on youtube without buying the game. A game that doesn't focus on gameplay doesn't seem worth purchasing to me personally.

Aside from the storytelling sometimes replacing good gameplay, there’s also the issue of replayability. I find that I rarely replay games with heavy storytelling. If story is the main draw and I already know what’s going to happen, why bother?

I wish the bad writing in shows and media wasn't completely rolling over into games. Nearly everything is dumbed down now

Meanwhile BGS RPGs having barely a few scripted scenes that take away control from the player. Or much narrative value. Or much spectacle. Never leave your character's perspective.

I disagree on your take on graphical fidelity impacting the way people emotionally connect with story. If this was true, games that are heavily stylized or have extremely low graphical fidelity wouldn't be able to move the player. I understand what you mean by saying "when it's the focus", but those moments can still be achieved without graphical fidelity, and in some cases, work even better without it. Tone, atmosphere, and pacing are far more important when visually conveying emotion.

I really liked the scene in the original halo 2 when the arbiter realizes his faith something he based his whole life on was a lie idk that scene really moved me and that game was made in 2004 I think

Wouldn't be really an issue to me if the movie part was good but GoW Ragnarok had an awful pace and the titular Ragnarok took 10 minutes.

GoW Ragnarok had some of the most fun melee combat gameplay imo. The way it used range, switching weapons, and shield bashing major focuses made it feel so so satisfying. Even if the story wasn’t amazing I’m sure I would’ve still loved it. So hyped to see what Santa Monica makes next.
@pascalsimioli67778 күн бұрын
Then why should they ever bother writing a good story when people like you love a shallow combat system anyway? I wish at least you were right about the combat system but it plays the same way: use your skills so they go in cooldown immediately then use whatever is busted against that enemy.

Hi! The Guage that you were unsure of simply represents overall zone stability. You'll notice once the first zone alarm goes off. It will start going up and down quickly. Once the second zone alarm goes off it will start moving violently.

Do your own thing stop ripping off other KZbin channels you just look like some crappy poser. Also there is no old versus new open world. Elden ring was a one off style game and a lot of people didn’t like it because it lacks any sort of story go videos, pointless and you’re literally just copying other people styles to do it much better.

Tbh i feel this 'modern' open world game design sacrifices story for openness and curiousity , a game like Oblivion or Witcher 3 strikes perfect balance which also means content is king
