That’s why spotter arms were invented and are widely available in every gym around the planet. Just use them, it’s safer than trying to tilt a heavy bar to one side whilst your chest is being crushed. 🙄
@Welshstrengthcoach26 күн бұрын
@@d_a_n_y_u_l the safety rails should always be set. And that’s why I said in the video “although it’s not ideal”. Safety rails and spotters are really important factors to keeping you safe, but it’s still a good idea to get into the HABIT of not collaring your bench. Because the one day shit goes wrong, and for whatever reason nobody is about, or you forgot to set the safeties, at least you have that get out of free jail card. Ideally set it to the rails. But things can go wrong and this is the next best option.

@@balawaldustgir9347 explain to me why football players wouldn’t benefit from squatting double their bodyweight?
@balawaldustgir93472 ай бұрын
They wouldnt get any better at football, just a waste of time ,clearly don’t play football, you’d be too big for it anyways you need cardio and muslcuar endurance, it’s not about who can squat the most 😂😂
@Welshstrengthcoach2 ай бұрын
@@balawaldustgir9347 You’re missing the point. Building strength-like squatting double body weight-provides a foundation for all athletic movements. Football players need strength to sprint, change direction, tackle, and hold their ground against opponents. Getting stronger doesn’t mean getting ‘too big’ or neglecting cardio; in fact, a proper strength program can improve both power and endurance. Cardio and muscular endurance are important, but they work best when built on a base of strength. It’s not about who can squat the most-it’s about using strength to become a better, more resilient athlete.
@balawaldustgir93472 ай бұрын
Bro you think u know more than professional coaches and trainers ffs 🤦♂️, it’s not worth squatting double ur body weight, and footballlers do squat they just don’t do 1 rep maxes like the guy in the video
@shabaanmarijani16502 ай бұрын
They don't need to be hulking beasts with 0 cardio, they need a sleek versatile body that can do a wide range of motion, explosiveness while having elite cardio

As a person that lifts 3 times a week, in a public gym, the trap bar is the safer than a deadlift for my back and in reducing injury. Especially when having to do it in any cramped space you can find. If you caveat your opinion with ‘coach-led’ training, then I’m on board. As I see the trap bar as the deadlift with training wheels.
@Welshstrengthcoach2 ай бұрын
@@cryptob2281 hey! Look there are a couple issues 1) the trap bar is not inherently safer than a barbell deadlift. This is a common misconception people have because they don’t know how to deadlift. 2) Getting stronger with a deadlift will make your back more resilient by shifting the load onto it. “Avoiding” it is not the solution, and the trap bar certainly isn’t a solid substitute for the deadlift. 3) a trap bar is not a deadlift with training wheels, because it’s a different movement as said in the video. Learn how to deadlift, there’s no reason you should avoid it!
