How far is it possible to travel diagonally with the wing suit ? That was awesome
@jturner728025 күн бұрын
In BASE jumping, the glide ratio we achieve can vary based on the terrain and conditions. Typically, we fly at a glide ratio between 2.4:1 and 1.7:1. For example, in a dive flow with 5,000 feet of vertical drop, if we maintain an average glide ratio of 2.2:1, our horizontal distance covered would be approximately 11,000 feet, which is about 2.08 miles (3.35 kilometers). Of course, this depends on factors like wind, body position, and wing configuration, but it gives a good idea of the kind of range we can expect 🙂
@GavinJo25 күн бұрын
Wow , thanks man for the detailed information in your response . That is amazing . I know in a skydive it’s possible to reach a maximum velocity of 120mph . What roughly are the speeds achieved on the diagonal ? Please I hope I’m not being a pain but I’m hooked on watching these wing suit videos . If I wasn’t so ill I know I’d love to learn to fly like this one day
@jturner728025 күн бұрын
@@GavinJo A Phoenix-Fly Vampire wingsuit can reach horizontal speeds of 170-200 mph (273-322 km/h) under ideal conditions when flown by highly skilled pilots in a fast glide profile.

How do you steer them ?
@jturner7280Ай бұрын
Good question. To fly steeper, we apply weight to our shoulders. To fly flatter, we use less weight on our shoulders. To turn, we dip a shoulder in the direction we want to turn. We apply weight to the shoulders and hips on the side we want to adjust to fly sideways. These are the fundamental maneuvers. Additional maneuvers include transitions (front/back), barrel roles, corkscrews, flares, head down, etc. 🙂
