Is the programmed INPA injector sequence the same as the cylinder location front to back, or does it refer to the firing order of the cylinders?

So I had been checking out some E60 550 videos out recently since im interested in getting one (a manual one) and your video just popped up as a suggestion. The ontario plates got me really interested since I am here as well lol. So how was this car for you? Also if you dont mind sharing, how much did it sell for and man, almost 300k on these are crazy especially with the issues I've read about them online (Valve seals leaking, etc..)
@PierrosGarage
@PierrosGarage 9 ай бұрын
Hey buddy, it was a decent car over the years. But being higher km the main issues I had dealt with are throttle body malfunction (even after replacing one with new the same issue persisted, I never figured it out, may have been an issue with the TB harness), one of the modules which controls voltage had a loose solder on the board and it was triggering transmission codes so I just ended up resoldering the loose connection on the board and it was fixed, crank shaft sensor failed, coolant expansion tank failed, upper rad hose failed, coil packs failed and of course leaking valve stem seals. The valve stem seals is guaranteed to fail. I had the car posted for 5k back then and I just ended up parting the car out and made more than double what I had listed the vehicle for, which was a pleasant surprise. If you do choose to pursue an e60 550i, I'd would be ideal to have paper work or documentation that proves valve stem seal replacement. Or something you could address, although it's a lengthy and tedious job. Best of luck!
@mudasr
@mudasr 9 ай бұрын
@@PierrosGarage Thanks for the info, yes the other things you mentioned are also on the list of things to fail but yea, that valve stem seal replacements are pretty tedious. So I'm assuming it was done on yours by the time you bought it? Did you do most of the maintenance yourself? If I do end up getting one, it most likely would be don't by a shop and I know most aren't cheap nowadays. I've found an 08 with 155k kms and am debating pulling the trigger (once I verify the maintenance on it). He's asking $15k (which is why I'm mostly interested in it) and the fact its a manual just makes it even more rare and then you have the LCI model which was 08-10.

Oh wow, yes, I started to notice this became more standardized within the last 10 years. Even more interesting to see in the USA you can pay for petrol with cash at a lesser price than card. In addition, the amount of e85 that is available there makes me incredibly jealous. In canada, e85 is basically none existant. Methanol injection is the only alternative.

@faith.n.fitness76 Price was the main reason for my decision on used, and apparently, they are known to be "lifetime" injectors, but we'll see how long they last. For new index 12 (oem brand) is close to $4000 Canadian dollars.

@@PierrosGarage yep, I get it, trust me, cos I’ve just recently bought an E92 330i m sport, after owning an e46 330ci m sport for 7 years, and in the uk oem fuel injectors are over £400 each, and I’ve been warned/advised, not by BMW, but by mechanics to only go for brand new oem 1s, well, I just hope they work for ya….. 👍🏻

driving your car on that road trip after doing all this prob felt so good lol, always quite satisfying after doing car work such as this. One thing I gotta knock is the open air filters that'll just suck in hot engine bay air, increasing IATs. I know it sounds way better, but not as efficient lol

If you don't mind me asking where did u get that metal undertray splash shield from? nvm i just realized it was front splitter. Oh do you run in-line oil cooler thermostat or without it?
@PierrosGarage
@PierrosGarage Жыл бұрын
Hey Pal! The front splitter is an APR brand. The front mount intercooler does not have a thermostat. Having said that, the oil temps do take longer to heat up. The oil temps run slightly cooler than stock under regular driving conditions. I haven't tracked the car yet, but I do plan on it and I will collect data on the oil temps to see if there are any note worthy gains with the cooler. Cheers mate and thank you for watching! Much more to come :)

Why would you apply wheel bearing grease on the threads of the studs? I’ve only seen people use high-temp blue loctite. I’d assume you’d risk them backing out. 13:50
@PierrosGarage
@PierrosGarage Жыл бұрын
You got it buddy! Great discussion point. The blue loctite should prevent the studs from backing out when removing the lug nuts with impacts. Without the loctite (my situation), I will have to retorque the wheel studs each time, after wheel removal. Blue loctite has a melting point of ~300F and if you plan on tracking the car, the brakes will far exceed the temp rating. Rennline's wheel stud conversion kit advises against blue loctite for those reasons. I opted for grease to prevent seizing and have to accept the additional work to retorque every time I remove the wheels.
