I feel bad for this character he has no one to care for him he can't go outside because he's blind (and plus, he and the rest of the family live in the middle of nowhere) so all he does is sit in darkness slowly withering away while he listens to tv.

He (and the rest of the family) need help, but what are they going to do? They live in the middle of nowhere the only thing across from them Is a billboard for a burger shop that's NINE miles away from them. They don't have a car or anything to help them so the grandpa sits in darkness the father sits in a reflection chamber and the mother sits in a bed all destroying themselves with cigarettes, mirrors and pills while claire sits there looking at a billboard none of her family sees her but the billboard family does in THEIR eyes she'll stay but In no-one else's.

it’s not a metaphor she literally is Claire he wouldn’t mistake her if he sees her “wait your not Claire, GET OUT OF MY HOUSE” opal is just her imagined fairytale great life, plus he has blind glasses on, he sees people on the tv as what he just hear “I can’t see” and he thinks Claire is hiding it when it’s on the ground. Also he says they dance too I ASSUME if he could see he could KNOW that they dance

Him being blind is totally just a metaphor tho, he startes at that box so much that he may as well be blind since he lets the rest of life pass him by.
