Young man, the legnth makes no difference at all. 2 feet or 20 feet. The SWR is determined by the antenna, not the coax length. In every 18 feet (at CB freqs) you get a voltage peak and a current null, It may show up on a simple SWR meter, but has nothing to do with actual SWR of the antenna. You just cannot modify true SWR by adding or cutting coax. AE4YW

Good videos on this canopy... Hey I'm wondering... can you have two legs fully extended and the opposite two legs extended but different heights than the other two... or two not extended at all ? Meaning can you set it up to have a slanted roof in order to have better sun protection or even to shed rain off the top in one direction ? I appreciate your time making these videos and your time spent in responding, thanks n' God bless

I just got one from Walmart and was struggling to put it up by myself, your video helped a lot, excellent. I suppose the first setup is time consuming, now I know how it goes up it will be a lot easier next time. I see other videos showing it being folded down with the canopy still attached, I'm not sure if that is a good idea or not? it might get ripped?
@DanielKE7UUM3 ай бұрын
Thank you for commenting! I not sure leaving the canopy on while folding it down is a good idea either, I have not done that.

Buy cheap bike and you get what you pay for. These department store bikes are so low quality, they are throw away garbage. Spend the money on a real bike from a real bike shop brand like Trek, Specialized, Giant, etc. They are expensive, but worth the investment, and they last, and can actually be serviced for years to come.

That mic should have something Turner called a "Switch kit" installed. It's a third leaf switch installed in the mic that switches off the receive and kills that feedback and what sounds like talkback. The only way to get one nowadays is if the mic had one installed back when they were being sold new (1970's and maybe early 80's). If you download the turner wiring book any of the radios listed with "requires Sw.K" in the wiring guide for that radio your out of luck. I just looked in my book and in the Cobra section the newest radios listed are 138xlr and 139xlr and all of the cobras are 4 pin mic plugs but all of them require the "switch kit" installed so I would think you would need it for all the 5 pin radios ie. 2000. When Turner brought out the +3B (the black +3) it came with the switch preinstalled and the Relay electronic switch removed. You will either have to find another +3 with 3 switches in it or just get the +3B. Your mic is still good for many radios but not ones that rely on the receive to be switched by the mic. Sorry this was rather longwinded. Good luck.

All this trimming of coax by one inch increments gets you a accurately measured ½λ of coax and getting Rs to 1 and Xs to 3. It sounds great! I assume you have an SWR meter? And then a jumper coax to the radio? All this careful trimming and then you add a jumper coax and the SWR meter so throwing all this accurate measuring off as the two coax cables are connected together and don't forget the SWR meter of about another 4 inches. Do you think the SWR meter somehow magically isolates the aerial coax from the radio coax? Does the SWR meter add on to the jumper coax or the aerial coax? Jumper coax obviously but why is that not a ½λ if it is important on the aerial side? It's nonsense! G4GHB.

Initially I thought being on low would be 30 watt scale not 300 but looking this meter up on Amazon I was wrong low is 300 and high is 3000. I was actually going to buy this meter and forgot the scaling. Anyway one thing I wanted to say is maybe given such a high scale on low that when the carrier is turn way down it might not be super accurate. I think to get an accurate carrier turned all the way down it would be better to have a 10 20 or 30 watt scale. I think it would give a more precise number on the low end. As far as swing goes, at least the radios I have when the rf power is turned down the swing also comes down quite a bit. I typically see modded radios maintaining full swing regardless of carrier. I personally prefer it to be fully adjustable so you're not limited on amps, certainly low drive amps couldn't take 50+ watts worth of drive. Adjustability can also be radio specific, I don't have heavily modded radios but some seem to be different going from AM to sideband. For example I have a qt40 that's adjustable both ways but then I have a quad 5 that's only adjustable on sideband swing not AM swing just the carrier changes

Hopefully you know by now that meter needs a 9 V battery to run the peak circuit. That’s the only reason I bought this meter from MFJ because Dozy and all the other average meters don’t have the circuit you can’t have peak power readings without circuit without power

I saw the demonstrator in another video pound one through the hole that you noted at the end of each leg and use the other four to stretch stretch and anchor those ropes fastened to the legs' tops diagonally away from tent for further stability.
