3/4" behind the wing tube with canopy off, gear down, UAT full and 1/4 fuel in tank. I test this by straddling the plane facing the rear, with the leading edges near my shins, using an index finger under the lip on each side of the fuselage and lift to check balance.

Beautiful model! Love the noise it makes when gliding. I built an “Inside F5J” balsa model during lockdown but have never had the nerve to fly it!

Around tine stamp 9:30 Patrick does the 12 inch clearance loop at 150 mph! This is the best successful high speed low level loop I've ever seen😁
@Linz3012Ай бұрын
Hey Rich, another excellent job on the video work. Patrick is always very smooth and precise with his flying. They don't come much better than him. Those 2 flights were, however, about the tamest 2 flights I ever saw Patrick have.
@richschmit9308Ай бұрын
The two flights were a little more tame than usual because the jets he usually fly are built to handle more speed and G forces.

11/10!! Soooo great to see people flying their jets properly! I was at the Florida Jets at De Long and one other stop years ago.. Just so rad!! I see people messing with vectoring and trying 3d stuff... For me its this demo I just watched, fast as eff, and low to the deck... 100%

Rich, this is Randy's brother (Don) sending a reply. WOW . . . a great job of videoing . . . the piloting isn't too bad either, LOL! Our Dad would be very proud as he taught Randy to fly U-control (going round and round in a circle until you got dizzy) when Randy was just a kid. He's come a long way baby! Great music as well as it does look like a "beautiful day". Only thing better would have been the sound track to TOP GUN! 😜 Congrats to you both! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Thanks Don. Besides Randy's piloting skills, your dad would also be proud of how he sets a good example at the flying field and is always willing to help others.

Sir what your take on this F5J has a Competition Sailplane in F5J Contest flying?
@richschmit93087 ай бұрын
I have never flown F5J competition. This model is capable, but serious competitors would be better off with a lighter, more expensive model like the Explorer. I built this just to have fun with it. www.soaringusa.com/F5J-LMR-ALES-Electrics/

Thanks Tom. I put this together to show my mother back in IL what it's like there, but I'm glad that some other people are enjoying it also. We are snowbirds and going back soon. With all the activities there, I describe Sun City West as an "adult Disneyland".

Hi; Could you share the Cortex's settings pls ? Gain + Priority Stick. Best Regards.
@richschmit93082 жыл бұрын
My radio settings would not be of help because of too many variables. The Cortex is stock out of the box. I adjust normal gain at the transmitter. I start out with low gain and increase gain slowly until I see a hint of oscillation at high speed, then I back off of that a little. With heading hold gain, I rotate in a hover and increase gain to where it holds it, but doesn't over control my movements. Hope that helps. I wish there was an easier way to help you with that.

Di you find the 3700 65c too heavy ? It is in my slick 580 60 inch i plan to buy the 3300 45/66c
@richschmit93085 жыл бұрын
I used to use Pulse 3300-65c and like the 3700 better. It's a little more weight, but the increase in flight time makes it worth it to me. 5 min. vs. 6 min. for the style of flying I do.
