It one of my favourite Russian mbts as you finally have the speed and the reverse gear to shoot and Scoot. When stock use the he so you can one tap leopard 2s frontally. The only downside is the fact you only get 1st gen thermals.

@@markfrost5164 Short answer is that it's faster both forwards and backwards, but squishier cause of the older composite. Now here's the long answer... The T-80B has a 17.8% higher HP/T ratio over the T-80UD while having two more forward gears (And shorter ones within the same speed range), 10km/h more top speed, and a reverse gear you can actually use. Your armor however, is notably less capable. Against HEAT, you still fare pretty well with your ERA package. But against Kinetic, you stop allot less stuff. T-80U/UD's UFP is capable of stopping even 120mm DM53 out of an L/55 if hit in the thickest parts. T-80B even with the tad extra of ERA cannot stop 120mm DM33 out of al L/44 anywhere on that UFP and even in many spots on the turret face (And in some spaces may not even resist 120mm DM23/105mm DM33). That's before factoring you will often see much more capable rounds than DM33, as you can now see 11.3. Basically every round you find on 11.3 MBT's like M829A1, KE-W, DM43, DM53, and L27A1 will tear you open like a can opener even at distance. Do not count on your armor saving you. Use your mobility to the best extent you can to position yourself well and avoid taking hits where possible. You have the same trusty 3BM42 round, but now with a slightly slower autoloader. Overall a great tank, but it has its limits just like the UD. Prefer Leopard 2 and Abrams for the soft factors
