Apothecary diaries is one of my favorites too! It's interesting to see a review made by a writer. I'd also like to recommend: 1. Frieren: Beyond the Journey's End, if you haven't seen it yet. It has an anime (aired around the same time as Apothecary Diaries) and a manga (I've only seen the anime, though). Imo it also has well written characters and has a super cute slow burn romance. It's a fantasy as well. 2. Akanebanashi. It's a shounen manga with a female lead about this old form of japanese storytelling called rakugo. It's one of my favorite mangas coming out right now, and I don't really see a lot of people talking about it. But it has one of the best emotional payoffs I've ever read, and it just gets better and better as the series goes by. 3. Hyouka. It has an anime and a novel (not a light novel, just a straight up novel). It's a little similar to Apothecary Diaries in the sense that it involves little mysteries, but it's simpler and more slice of life. Also set in high school. What I like about this series is that the mysteries are used to give more depth and develop the characters (and I love the character writing in this one too). 4. Chrestomanci Series. It's a novel series by the author Diana Wynne Jones. It's also fantasy. It's actually a children's fantasy series, but I personally enjoyed reading them a lot. I just love the author's writing and her humor. 5. Also by Diana Wynne Jones, Howl's Moving Castle (novel) and its sequels. If you've seen/heard of the Ghibli film, it was based on her novel! It doesn't have the same plot as the movie, and same with the above, I love her writing and humor. She's actually my favorite author who writes in english! If you end up watching/reading and liking any of these I'd love to hear your opinion of it!

If you haven' already checked it out, I recommend Ascendance of a Bookworm by Miya Kazuki. I really like Apothecary Diaries, and I feel like bookworm is similarly well written and very world buildy. So good. It also has three seasons of anime, manga, and so many light novels
