got this bike for $125 on sale was it worth it?

I hear it all the time that a gravel bike is more versatile than a mountain bike. I don't think it's the case. On a mountain bike you can ride everything that a gravel bike does (although a bit slower) but you can ride plenty of stuff you wouldn't think of riding on a gravel bike. It's horses for courses for each bikes intended purpose, but the MTB can do far more.

So I get the daily recommended Garmin running workouts. I've just started using my spin bike again for cross-training, and it would be nice to be able to alternate. Can Garmin mix and match the recommended workouts?

The most fun SEGMENTS are the descents on mtb enduro routes that are used for races. This allows me to compare roughly against not only anyone using strava but also everyone on strava who raced the segment over the years. Also, I'm only in the top 20% for climbs now so I focus on my top 2-3% descending abilities ;-)

go 1x run a 46t crankset, then run a mullet sram axs with a 10 52. 46-10 is similar to 50-11 (standard shimano compact top gear) and 46-52 is 0.88 ergo better than 1:1 gear. i am selling up my 2x road bike to use my 1x gravel bike with 2 wheelsets - i used it recently in a road race and it was perfectly capable. And finally 2x only offers 15 unique gears (depending on cassette) so with 1x 12 speed you arent losing much.

On fidlock; I think they’re underrated on full suspension MTB frames where the rear shock takes up room in the triangle and with a traditional bottle cage it requires a bit more room to get the bottle in/out. The fidlock bottle can be taken in/out within its own footprint.

For the flat pedals on my bike, I wear regular skater style shoes (Like Vans) they are firm enough for bicycling but you can walk around them. I'm a commuter with a hybrid bike and flat bars, I have alumunium pedal with the pins on them, I have a lot of stops on my commute to work lights, stop signs, homeless people walking out in front of me, etc so clipping in or toe clips not really ideal, my commute is short about 3km one way but I usually add some distance I also do my shopping and errands after work on my way home.

Fidlock fan boy here…I like purist bottles too but the bottle caps are hard to take apart and thoroughly clean so they fill with gunk quickly

I love my toe-clips. Like Francis said, you can wear your normal shoes. For commuting to work, I’m still connected with the pedal and don’t have the faff of having to carry special shoes. MKS sylvan pedals with leather straps look awesome too on a steel framed road bike

A little advice from the mountain bike side of things Crank Brothers flat pedal shoes are the most comfortable with very little break-in period however my favorite flat pedal mountain bike shoes are Etnies. And I have had my bike fly off of 20 ft cliff and then tumble another 20 ft and my fidlock didn't come off. I switched to fidlock because I kept breaking bottle cages in the winter cold
