Not a Sonic fan per se, just a game nerd lurker: if the chaos emeralds are mystical and can grant wishes and such, why didn’t Dr robotnik think to just use them to directly cure Maria, perhaps still slipping it into project shadow by claiming he’s developing a super soldier serum?

WAIT WAIT Maria is his granddaughter and EGGMan is his grandson so EGGMan and Maria are siblings?!?!??

Fun fact about this game: In the final song called "Live Life" if you put "live life" with "With Me" it will be the phrase: *"Live life with me"* which is the entire message of this game that literraly took me years to realized that wow-😮 I don't know if they did it on purpose or it was a coincidence but it was cool 🦔💙🗡💨

I like to think that the child Abraham Tower (the GUN commander), after witnessing the deal of the Black Arms (in episode 2 of Dark Beginnings and Shadow '05), actually ratted out Gerald to the United Federation for not only "selling" Project Shadow to the Black Arms as a tool of destruction, but also making the Eclipse Cannon, seemingly to support this plan; he could also have partially resented Shadow himself for stealing Maria's affection. GUN then raids the ARK in retaliation, sparing only Abraham (their "informant") and Gerald (their "suspect"), in fears of the public blaming the Eclipse Cannon's creation on them alongside their doubts of Project Shadow. In short, Tower ratted out Gerald to GUN, and consequently caused the raid on the ARK. This could also recontexalize his hatred of Shadow as a coping mechanism for survivor's guilt. He blames the GUN raid on Shadow (the product of Black Doom and Gerald); he's essentially going through denial of his involvment in instigating the raid.

I absolutely loved this game despite a lot of bad reviews. I loved the villain twist and the whole knight theme and who they chose (I love blaze the cat so was happy to see her back) I really miss this era of sonic though I feel they don’t make his games like they used to in regards to the characters they use. It feels now we just get the basic staple with the odd new one. Either way absolutely amazing cover I loved this song from the second I heard it and love hearing it get covered and attention

I’ve only recently gotten into Sonic to bond with my 4-year-old who’s really loving the series. I also had the misconception that Shadow was this evil edgelord who hates everything & wants to kill everyone but every canonical thing I’ve experienced so far indicates he’s a MASSIVE SOFTY; he’s just grumpy (and a little stupid & easily manipulated) so everyone assumes he’s like the Punisher or something 😂

I don't know enough about sonic mannnn i loved some classic games and now im watching sonic prime and this guy immediately clung onto my brain i love him he's ridiculous

I just picked up on the fact that Eggman is supposedly the grandson, but Maria is presented to us as an only child who was shot to death after a lifetime of dealing with the effects of "not-aids". What exactly happened there? Sonic Adventure is either incredibly dark in terms of what is implied to have happened to Maria for her to be his biological mother, or it might be implied that he's a clone (as in, Robotnik Sr took a human egg cell and inserted his own DNA into it to replace the nucleus entirely - then posed as Eggman's grandfather in order to provide a cover for illegally cloning himself. I don't know how plausible it would be for him to manage it, but I guess that GUN were in the business of murdering terminally ill children in cold blood so I could see a scenario in which someone sympathetic to him could facilitate the smuggling of a zygote out of the prison to then be implanted into a surrogate and raised to become a revolutionary and take down the system that destroyed his life. There's definitely a version of that story where Eggman is the person who saves humanity from tyranny and creates a fully automated society where all essential human needs are met. I feel like the rampant animal cruelty and disregard for natural ecosystems definitely don't help his case but it's not like the existing power structures are much better. Sonic is really not the good guy if all he really cares to do is preserve the status quo, but that's pretty much the only way to interpret his collaboration with the president against Eggman given that context.).
