I just found out that my maintenance guy put the inlet air filter in backward. Could this be the cause for my freeze-up?

Nope , that means your unit is corroding and time to replace .My advance 90 just did this and I am replacing with the Oasis 105, which has a positive pressure drain system and will hopefully last longer 😢.

I always wondered why negative pressure doesn't suck water before trap gets filled? I understand trap is helpful in order not to suck dusty air, but concept about pulling water backwards is not clear. Water still goes downward to fill trap, right? Then why not to let water go further via high pitch tube to the drain or pump.Traps are known to accumulate dirt, so why not to get rid of them to avoid often cleaning them and water overflow.

You prime the trap so the water goes down. If you don't have the trap primed, some of the water going down will be pulled back into the unit.
@vladm9096
@vladm9096 9 ай бұрын
@@burrmanchu687 No, it is not how it happens. I installed hundred ACs for over 30 yeas. Never primed/filled the trap. When AC start working it fills the trap and then water starts to go down the drain. During fall/winter/spring time trap completely dries out. Yet nobody goes to let say attic AC to prime trap. All happens by itself.

I just purchase an Oasis 105 and want to add a float switch as well as an intermittent Alarm if the unit throws an error code. I have a float switch ordered and understand how it get wired to the control but I need help on wiring an Alarm. The only alarms Ive found are 24 VDC. Can a DC alarm be used and which terminals are to be used.

These units short cycle when the fan is set to AUTO because the humidity control is in the base, near where the condensate sits. They really need a remote humidity control provision.

Great question. The dehumidifier needs a draintrap due to where the fan is located in the unit. The draintrap helps ensure the water is not pulled back into the unit. We recently launched a new dehumidifier called the Santa Fe Oasis105 that does not require a draintrap. Here is a link to the video of the new unit - kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJqYc56apbStb6s

Great question, Steven. A couple of reasons - almost all of our dehumidifiers remove more water per kWh, we provide MERV 13 filters as standard with our dehumidifiers, and we offer an industry-leading 6-year warranty.

That’s the point, if you don’t have ventilation and the outside temperature is colder than the inside temperature leading to condensation it is more important to dehumidify in the winter than summer

Where is the moisture coming from
@michaelkiese7794
@michaelkiese7794 9 ай бұрын
Warmer air is more capable of holding moisture than cold air. Therefore in the winter, the outside air is dryer than air in the home. The moisture inside the house comes from human activities such as cooking, cleaning, bathing, breathing. Other sources of indoor moisture are potted plants and fish tanks. So like david coomber mentioned, if you don’t have ventilation, you might have high household humidity in the winter. It all depends on all these factors, and is a case by case basis.

Tremendous talk. I work in QC/Safety for a large commercial interiors contractor and noone is talking about humidity. I recently had to repair all the seams in a VERY large project due to the GC firing up the HVAC and letting it blast as hard as it could until desired temps were reached. This led to huge drops in % of humidity which ultimately led to starved mud joints, cracking, and accessory detachment with regards to drywall installation. I had installed hygrometers prior to the issues presenting themselves which allowed me to make the case that it was not faulty drywall or faulty workmanship. We ended up going from a potential 200k loss to a $280k profit simply because we had environmental data.

I dont know how the loop works on this, but on an ac its just a bad idea, usually they end up holding water and not because they are clogged but because the fan and the sheer amount of water coming down at a given time just randomly keeps it from flowing, I would say stick with the pvc trap

@@SantaFePest Thanks, one more question now that I have your Advance 2. .... I ready to install my unit under our house. To do this I need to turn it on its side. I know after it's in the upright position not to turned it on until the oil settled in the compressor, I will wait a min of 30 min. My question, being the compressor shipping ties were removed by others, if I turn it on it side very carefully will any thing come loose or break? Thanks in advance.

@@SantaFePest No no no no no. The filter required for this unit as stated by the company is total confusion. The filter as stated in the Advanced2 manual is a MERV-8, which is P/N 4031062, size 14x17x2. The old filter from my Advance2 is P/N 4031062, but the size is 14x17.5x1.75. The MERV-13 filter is indeed 14x17.5x1.75, but has a different P/N 4037722. This company can't even get their filter inventory straight.

I'd like to add that I am really impressed with this device but I have two observations 1) the manual should really emphasize the need to have it perfectly horizontal/level (or at most, slightly tilted forward, toward the drain port); and 2) the discharge hose length is a joke: to use it on my crawlspace, I had to run to Lowes and buy a 25-ft hose... and since I was there, also a longer extension cord. You should mention the hanging kit: as a consumer, I found that the hanging kit is **A MUST HAVE** - I ordered it along with the dehumidifier and boy, I was glad I did as it made the work of lifting the unit and leveling the unit, a breeze.
