This clip epitomises what I love about the Rickenbacker sound. Huge, singing, vocal upper register, snarling, growly lows. Wonderful tone. Wonderful tune. Wonderful playing and vocals!

From the first time I heard the album Prologue to this day I have a love for Annie's 5 octave voice, her performance and lets face it, she's gorgeous. The band was excellent and their live show - I saw only once in 1977 at Seton Hall Uni in Orange NJ, was dynamic, touching, amazingly orchestrated and performed. That's was music! Carpet of the Sun was played at sunrise once morning in July 2014 as my late wife's ashes were loosened to the sea....She introduced me to the band. It seemed appropriate then, and remains so.

Jesus,This is fantastic, i could spend the rest of my life trying to get near this level of bass playing and not get near, and what a piece of music to do it to. Having this way up front makes this classic sound even better. Got an easier one for you but would like to hear you do it..Swing out Sister's 'You on my mind'.

Hmmmmm....This is beautiful to watching again. I recall looking forward to seeing this TV show as a young boy in Lagos, Nigeria 🇳🇬. I remain so thankful to my creator that I witnessed those beautiful, wonderful days of the Earth 🌎, we don't have so much materialistically, but we have love ❤❤ and compassion for fellow human. Life was nice and enjoyable back then......

I used to watch it, but i was convinced the theme tune was The Northern Lights. Memory playing tricks. I did go to school with Judith Pyle, who played Sam. Seaton Sluice Middle.

Just discovered them a few months ago and I’ve been listening to their ‘Prologue’ ‘Ashes are Burning’ ‘Turn of the Cards’ and ‘Scheherazade’ records on repeat ever since, 4 perfect albums! They are phenomenal and I can’t believe I had never heard of them before, incredibly gorgeous and moving music!

This is the only Renaissance song where all the music was composed by drummer Terry Sullivan. (He also contributed the main melody to the intro of "A Song for All Seasons," his only other writing credit with the band.) Note that he plays 2nd acoustic guitar here, though he's only shown doing so briefly (around 0:57-1:02). (You can also see him holding the guitar at the end after the band stops.) Not sure how audible his playing actually is. His composing talents are also in evidence on his more-or-less solo album (credited to "Renaissant") called "South of Winter" (a bunch of lovely tunes ruined to varying extents by weak vocals -- most by his wife, the 2 worst ones by himself).

I saw them at Stony Brook University in the later 70s. Never heard of them before that but instantly fell in love with Renaissance. If anyone knows exactly when they were at Stony Brook would you let me know?

Longtime fan of Annie Haslem, and certainly of Renaissance. In the Strawbs 50th Anniversary celebration a few years back, she sang the Sandra Denny parts from the "All Our Own Work" album. That was a real treat. I truly believe she (Annie) is one of the greatest female rock artists ever. She is also a very talented artist with the paints.
