Good catch! Yes, that would normally be edited out later. It’s always good to avoid those reflections ahead of time, so thank you for the heads up!

So what about taking a shot or two of the jar using the grey background? Secondly, because you switched to a grey backdrop wouldn't this cause a bit of an issue with color correcting as it would act as a "Grey card"?

I bought Reflective Acrylic and it comes covered in two coats. Can you tell me please how to take off these layers? Do I have that layer with an iron to remove it? Or do I soak it with thinner

Just use a pocket knife or similar sharp edge on one of the corners to start and peel off the protective layer of brown paper. Both sides are identical.

Great content. Wondering if you can help me with a quick question... any time I zoom (using an iPhone 11) my white background turns yellow. Additionally, when I don't zoom (to avoid the "yellowing") often times my white background turns a light shade of blue. Lastly, my pictures always look better on my phone than on my computer after I transfer them for final editing (both issues I mentioned are greatly exaggerated when I bring them up to edit them (I'm using the paid version of Canva online). Its not uncommon that I have to scrap everything and just try again. I've tried increasing my exposure, but that just seems to wash out the image. Any thoughts as to why I'm getting yellow when I zoom and light blue when I don't, and how to fix it? Thanks!!

It's been a while but it looks like 2 lenses were used in the video. With the pipe it looks like I was using the Canon EF 100mm F/2.8 Macro lens, and then later on with the glass jars I was using the Canon EF 50mm F/1.2L

Great Video! I adjusted my exposure prior to taking my shot and the shot looks great. But for some reason once I take the shot, it stores in my iphone as if no adjustments were made. There are no shadows when I set up my shot but the moment I take the picture all of the shadows come back - its really strange! do you have any idea what the issue could be?
@tabletopphotography
@tabletopphotography 3 жыл бұрын
Hmmm...that is strange. You did the right thing but it should save the photo as it looked on the screen after you adjusted the exposure. You may need to Google that to see if it is an issue with your phone or something else. I think I may have seen that before but not sure why it might be happening.

My background gets a blue cast - do you have a tip how to get rid of that?
@tabletopphotography
@tabletopphotography 3 жыл бұрын
That sounds like a white balance issue. For best results, perform a custom white balance on your white background for taking photos. Every camera is different so just google how to perform a custom white balance for your camera. The other solution would be to fix the blue cast in post (editing) but it's better if you only have to do very small tweaks so getting the white balance correct before shooting is the best solution.

Hello. What settings did you use? I have a 105 f2.8 macro, and when I take pictures I need an f20 + to capture everything clearly. With that aperture I need very strong light, I notice that you have a weak light and your pictures are still well exposed and clear
@tabletopphotography
@tabletopphotography 3 жыл бұрын
You are correct that the lighting is not super strong as compared to strobe and flash lighting, but since it is continuous lighting, you simply need to adjust your shutter speed long enough for the proper exposure. Since your exposures will be relatively long at F20, you will want to make sure to use a tripod and I also strongly recommend using the 2-second timer on your camera to remove any chance of camera movement when the shutter is depressed.

Is it possible to use side florescent lights with a paraflash?
@tabletopphotography
@tabletopphotography 3 жыл бұрын
It is possible, but I would generally not recommend using strobe flashes with a continuous light source. You would have to adjust the ambient exposure with the fluorescent accent lights on, then match the strobe output to balance the exposure. Since the fluorescents are not super bright, I'm not sure if the minimum output of the paraflash could match the exposure, although it is possible it could work. I hope that makes sense.

@@tabletopphotography you are right. I have only one strobe. Maybe I can have the reflections on sides with white panels.

@@mordavian that could work! If you don't get enough light from the white panels, you might try some silver reflectors.
