Great beginning there with tekken bowl, loved the hell out of that. I was born in '98 so I'm not old just yet but I played the hell out of Tag1 with my brother on the PS2. I'm glad even younger people can still enjoy these classics

iirc Tekken 4 had *decreased* poly counts to the models relative to Tag, that's how insane the level of detail was. Tekken 3 was regarded as one of the defining PS1 games, and the graphical leap going to this was unfathomable. I didn't get to see it immediately though, I only got a PS2 once Gran Turismo 3 came out a year later. Come to think of it, I feel like a universal experience amongst Playstation devotee millennials was getting your world rocked moving to PS2 for either Tekken, Gran Turismo, or Metal Gear Solid. GTA had the greater long-term/crossover impact, but that wasn't really on a lot of kids' radars because earlier GTA had sucked.

I prefer the early-mid 2000’s console/PC generation for their pre-rendered graphics, because they’re more detailed yet still maintain that ethereal, often uncanny valley look, but I still really like a lot of the PS1 cutscenes, they’re a vibe of their own. As video game and animation tools get even more accessible, I really hope that one day we get an indie or AA game that recreates the pre-rendered look, but use today’s technology to make the whole game look like it.

So the story of this game is basically this: So there's this JoJos stand that somehow just exists. The stand posesses people and grows limbs by absorbing it's user. The stand's user manages to give the stand stomach cancer and explodes it from the inside creating a jumbo size serving of spaghetti. Man this series is wild.

@@JohnnyTsoonami MvC2 was another game I played in the arcades and was dying to own before I got it along with Tag 1. And just like with Tag 1, the chase was better than the catch. MvC2 is a great game, don't get me wrong. But it seemingly has more quantity than quality. I still ended up enjoying MvC1 the most because it has a edgy 90s aura to it and while the MvC1 roster was small, every character had their own unique mechanics. The chase was better than the catch with Tag 1 for obvious reason. Which is the console version looking and feeling nothing like the edgy arcade version

This lowkey one of the best videos for one of my all time favorite fighting games. I usually bring an EZ/PS2 setup with me to EVO for casuals against other friends that i tend to meet up there almost every year. One year i'd somehow forgot my copy of the game, and ended up going to a small gamestore near the hotel venue. As luck would have it, they actually had a copy of the game which i totally wasnt expecting. An interesting tidbit that i dont think was mentioned in the vid, is that the game was developed by Yuke's, who are primarily known in the west for WWF Smackdown series, nearly every WWE 2K game, the UFC undisputed franchise, and most recently AEW FF.
@JuiceboxJoints8 ай бұрын
You were destined to play this game 🫡 And yea, Yuke’s going on to develop WWE 2K is pretty interesting. They did make a wrestling game before Evil Zone, so I guess it does kinda make sense tho.

@@JuiceboxJoints More like the Fate of being brought up poor and broke lol!. I initially went to the local KB store to buy Rival Schools but It wasn't enough with what I had saved up. Then I noticed this fine ass lookin character on a PSX case with a price tag nearly half of what RS cost. And the rest was history. I absolutely fell in love with the characters and more importantly its presentation which at the time no fighting game could come close to matching or replicating. Correct, they also developed the Pro Retsuden wrestling series prior in Japan.
