Oof that can happen. The Severed (humanoid enemy with sword) can sometimes bug out off the map. When you kill the last enemy, the game thinks the off map Severed is dead, and lets you ascend, but the Severed is still alive and can melee you, resulting to the end of your run. Random encounter such as that is a good reason why you need to keep your guard up, even if you're in a safe zone, because you'll never know something this random might happen and finish you off. Still impressive run. Think you can get 200 million+?

hello I have a question I only took 4 weapons in the games to land directly on the one I want and I never did I wanted to have the dreadbound with level 3 shield breaker and explosive burst and I never did I reached the phase 12 and still nothing received I have opened all the weapon chests and I never come across this weapon how can I get the weapons I need quickly I don't understand why this game is more luck than anything else if you happen help me thanks in advance

Everything IS luck based. Even if you unlock only 4 weapons, the weapons you get are still random. Same logic also applies to artifacts, weapon traits, and alt-fires. Everything in Returnal is luck based.

As promised from the description here are the details regarding the attempt, as well as what's happening for weeks. This attempt is one of the most annoying attempts due to parasite RNG. I'm forced to pick up the Atrophying parasite FIVE TIMES in separate occassions, making fights with smaller enemies and turrets infuriating. At Phase 15+, the awful parasite RNG has thankfully ended, but the fights are now tough. Just resumed hours ago, starting at Phase 25, some fights are tough but going well until Phase 28. Some fights in Phase 28 are infuriating due to horrible enemy combinations, the ones with annoying attacks that are difficult to evade perfectly. Got into a Malformedini boss fight somewhere between Phase 28 room 12 to 18, and during that fight, the game crashed. My final score before the crash was 583 million+. I started this attempt back on May 26, that is weeks ago. There are multiple reasons as to why, this attempt took unusually long (and the video upload to an extent). One reason is that some days, I'm just not in the mood to play Returnal, simple as that. Another, is that I'm playing other games on my laptop, one is a game that I know for a long time, the other I started playing it thanks to a certain game from Korea. To be really honest with you all, I truly want to take an indefinite break time from Returnal, because there are a shit ton of games I truly want to play (and maybe some other non-gaming hobbies). I'm not saying I want to quit Returnal, I love the game and uploading Tower attempt vids, but seriously, my heart yearns for anything else. I've been playing Returnal since 2022. I hope ya'll understand, but I'll try to upload one Tower attempt vid (or maybe multi part vid) every once in a while. But for now, I just want to play other games. Don't worry, I'll be ALWAYS loving and playing Returnal. Once again, I hope ya'll understand.

I just started watching your vids because I finished the game recently and curious about this 1billiion score goal. It is very ambitious! But sounds like you can really do with a long break from Returnal. Who knows, maybe when you come back next time, the first try will be that 1billion score.

absolutely understandable. This was a great run as always!! A break could probably give you fresh perspective. I remember giving up this game after not being able to beat Phrike lol but when i came back and something clicked Returnal became my favorite game

It is VERY strong. Enhanced Charge and Shattering Discs with Killsight alt-fire is enough to decimate enemies (until Phase 20+, then ever enemy becomes tough to kill again).

@@bd_dev one of the following: Thermogenic Launcher, Pyroshell Caster, Rotgland Lobber, and Electropylon Driver. Launcher and Pyroshell for firepower. Rotgland and Electropylon for damage over time and defense focus.

Because the Pyroshell Caster with Simmering Explosion is a rapid damage over time, it will decimate a lot of spawning enemies before they can even move and attack. Plus, back then, I though Disgorgers are not needed due to how insanely power some weapobs are. But eventually I learned that Disgorgers are a must have, specifically Dire Beam, depending on what weapon you're using.

I would love to co-op but I can't. I'm not subscribed to PS+ nor planning to anytime. Here's what you can do: 1) Get stacks of Silphium and Large Silphium vials. Save them for Nemesis. 2) Use one of the following guns: Tachyomatic Carbine, Thermogenic Launcher, and Rotgland Lobber (assuming you found it on biome 1). 3) Pick up one or both of these: Astronaut Figurine artifact and Shatterskin parasite (revives on the spot but beware of negative effects). Try your best not to die. 4) Assuming you're subscribed to PS+, you can get help with anyone else. Again, I would really love to help you via coop, but again, I'm not subscribed to PS+ (I'm on PS5). Hope these help, good luck.

Most of my runs shows the last hour before the end of a run. Sometimes I do multiple parts just to make some of my subs more happy (attempt 54 and 55 for examples). Attempts that are multiples of 10 are the ones that I usually do multi parts from Phase 1 to end Phase. I suggest you start at either Attempt 20 or 30. Edit: Check attempts 30, 40, and 50.

Still not bad for a score, you'll get 100 million eventually. It's only a matter of time and luck. Everything I do may seems easy, but it's not. It's stressful, due to the fact of getting one shotted after making even the miniscule of mistakes.

Great run 🏃♂️ . Damn evasive action is key to surviving at these high levels . Question why dont you have only 1 shield activated and carry 5 . I would think it would be better to have them all activated to have that extra cushion of protection . Plus you leave room to carry an extra 5 .

At that point dude, conserving shields for yhe worst possible fights is the only way for me to survive. I still have the Resinous Shield artifact, but unfortunately, enemies does not drop resins when I need resins.

In-game time: 7+ hours. IRL: I spend an hour or two. It depends on how many Phases I can do a day. It also depends on my mood. Feeling good? 10 Phases (sometimes more than that). Feeling bad or meh? 5 Phases a day.

I'm assuming you're confused on the movement where I leap a decent distance, that is a speedrun movement technique called Dash Melee Jump. There are a lot of KZbin tutorials on how to do it. You need to remap some buttons, L1 Dash, and R1 Melee. Then you need to input three buttons quickly to perform the movement technique.

I know it's far from the best gun in the game, but the sounds on this weapon, the windup, the rising roar into what sounds like a jet engine as you empty the magazine... It's the most badass sounding gun I've ever heard in a video game. 👌🏻

Normally play with headphones, but if you play without you can hear gun sounds through the controller when you pick them up. EPD SFX are great

Nice gameplay. One thing I don't like about the tower is that as you progress you're less and less durable and one hit can kill you even though your full health and added lost of protection.

Tower used to be different. Current Tower is the updated Tower, where at Phase 15+ you'll get one shot. Before that, taking any hits will instantly 1% your health but you still have a fighting chance. Most players back then use Explosion and Expanding Shards Dreadbound, and have tons of Silphium and Large Silphium vials, as well as 5+ Shield vials.

It is a let down sure, but I would not say that as a "major let down." If you were me, I would be more motivated because if I can get that far, sure as hell I can get that far again and even further. You're getting closer to 100 million, keep doing what you're doing but add some either small changes or improve your current tactics. You can do this man, you're getting close, don't give up now, learn your mistakes, improve your tactics, and then you'll achieve 100 million.

If you're planning on using the Carbine for high Tower runs, I STRONGLY suggest that you shoot one minor threat at a time. The carbine is not as strong as the Dreadbound nor can damage multiple enemies at once. Your best move is to eliminate one minor enemy at a time to prevent dangerous "post stagger counter attacks" (these are "counter attacks" from certain enemies that do after getting up from being staggered). If you're up against minor threats with two elite enemies, it is up to you which threats to eliminate first (kill minor threats first or eliminate elite enemies first). If you are up against minor threats and Malformed mini bosses, you can alternate between the two threats, just make sure you are hitting the minor threat that you decided to eliminate. Use alt fires to speed up the process, especially against the more dangerous foes. Edit: If you're using the Carbine with Rising Pitch, 4 hits to a green Tower in the "body" (assuming you're firing the gun like a semi auto rifle) then mid air melee killing blow for decent points. With High Caliber, same method but two or one hit, then one or two mid air melee killing blow.

Coilspine just hits SO MUCH HARDER than the Dreadbound. With Enhanced Charge and/or Shattering Discs, it deals amazing damage per shot. Another advantage of the Coilspine over the Dreadbound is it utilizes both Disrupting Overload (a buff that lets every shot destroy shields for a few seconds), and Recharging Overload (reduces alt fire cooldown for every successful overload). Really good weapon to eliminate elite enemies quickly, especially the tanky ones (Gorgoliths, Frost Severed, etc.). Also has Negating Discs, an amazing trait that destroys enemy projectiles, a good source of defense. There are souch more and you need to experience them yourself, and then you'll know why I and other high ranking Tower players prefer to use the Coilspine for high Tower runs.

I saw it from the Returnal subreddit. I know you and other fans would love for another Returnal DLC, but me (I'm not trying to be a killjoy here, this just my logical opinion), I doubt this is a potential DLC. The reason why I think so is simple, I believe Housemarque are creating a new IP that could be as good as Returnal or potentially outclass Returnal. Whatever they're doing, I hope it's something awesome, and if it is a DLC, hey I'm wrong, but at least I'll be able to join your excitement (I hope it's another endless mode (Tower) but randomized biomes). Edit: I just got my hands on Stellar Blade. I might not be able to player Returnal for a week or two or a long while.

It is after I upload the vid that I watched the clip, when I picked up the resin, there's no resin shield at all. Then I remembered that my Resinous Shield artifact was destroyed after Algos on Phase 29.

I think I had 70 or 90%. I'm confident that I kept my Scabshell parasite until the end. For the Scabspur though, it's either I kept it until the end of the run, or I had to replace it with a new parasite at some point.

You can even get 150 million+ by the time you reach Phase 10. Yes, you need to mid air melee as much as you can in the first 10 Phases.

Because suspend cycle is NOT AVAILABLE in the Tower, photomode is the best alternative to "suspend cycle" and then use PS5 rest mode to keep progress (turning off PS5 ends a Tower run prematurely).
