Thanks for the video! Been researching this on and off for the last few months and the information on the spread bore adaptor and carb vs Atomic TBI height was exactly what I needed! I have an '83 Recaro Trans Am with the factory CCC Quadrajet and was looking to retain the factory cowl induction air cleaner. Great work, and nice car!
@samirghanie4655 күн бұрын
Also, I noticed you also have a CCC Quadrajet, I see you left the original computer controlled HEI in, technically this should work once you have the base timing set right? As technically it'll be locked out with no advance adjustments right? That was one thing I'm trying to figure out. Thanks!

Thank you. It took me a long time to finally pull the trigger and replace everything. I’m very pleased on the outcome.
@pacoimaspeed4 күн бұрын
My distributor is a vacuum advance and not computer controlled. The computer controlled distributor will lock you out. Not sure how it will run without the feedback from the original sensors. I believe it uses the throttle position sensor to adjust timing. Not sure about that. In order to work properly you might have to go with the Atomic efi controlled distributor witch is also smog legal. If you need any other help feel free to ask. It was an experiment and it’s not done. Still have smog it next year that’s the only reason I’ve kept it looking stock. Still having a cold start issue but I’ll get it figured out. I hope. 🤞

My daughter's car has the same symptoms, waiting for her to bring it to me so I can check it. Her's might be going bad or it might be mis-aligned, because she can shift sometimes but not always. Love doing stuff myself to save money. This was the first video that popped up on my search! Nice work, well documented and easy to follow, thank you for your help.

Hey had some questions about the valve I got at Rockauto . For some reason I can’t respond to folks. So if yall want to know which valve to buy on rock auto, it’s under: heat/air conditioning, heater valve has to look exactly like valve #1 on the top of the engine.
@frankjrcapenhurst422419 күн бұрын
In the video he briefly touched on the difference between the two valves, if you’re having hvac problems it’s related to the upper valve-#1
@pacoimaspeed19 күн бұрын
It is related to the upper valve. I’ve never had to replace the lower valve and I don’t know what the lower valve bypasses.

Hey bro nice video, great technique! Quick question….do you feel like the steering wheel you removed sticks out noticeably more (towards you) compared to the stock one? I mean because of the adapter it almost gives the wheel a longer “neck” I guess. I’m thinking about installing a quick release on mine for extra security so I can remove the wheel and add a lock as well but that’s my only concern.
@pacoimaspeed19 күн бұрын
Both steering wheels, the aftermarket and stock didn’t have an adaptor. The aftermarket wheel had the same splines as the original steering wheel. Saying that I don’t remember if the steering wheel was closer or further. But I changed the wheel almost as soon as I got it running. Didn’t drive it to long with the old wheel. Hope this helps

The AMC cars are called AMX. They are 100% designed and built by AMC. The motors are an AMC design and the Crossram was designed by Edelbrock for AMC racing. The 68-70 AMX was a 2 seater fastback and the 68-70 Javelin was a 4 seat slopedback car. Great video
