Use epoxy resin in the cracks after wire brushing them and before you start with your 2nd grid. The natural colour will hide the correction for the most part or match the colour epoxy to the area. It will prevent further cracking and seal it if you want to make a powder horn or something else. Great vid

What a great video THANKS .... the only thing that I would change is keeping the polishing pads (even the wet ones) seperate .. No cross contamination...... I have only done stone work and look forward to using your technique ... I thank you very much for ALL of the amazing information you are a truly skills craftsman and make it look easy, which I can see it is not

I have a question, Mr. Charles. I cant seam to find the answer in the plethera of scroll saw info. How do you choose the right size of spiral blade for your work? I realize its by how thik of the piece of wood your working with. I purchased a 5 dozen set of multi size spiral blades by the Flying Dutchman thinking there would be some insightful info on choosing a size but there wasnt. Can you give me a clue on what size i should be using? Thank you for your time. Im gaining alot from your instruction on these videos. Jill C. Tombstone Arizona
@CharlesDearingScrollerАй бұрын
I'm afraid I'm not a good person to ask on this because I always use #3 and #5 spirals because most of my projects are large.

Thank you Mr Charles. Very helpful. And for those of us who are new to all this you were not a corny instructor. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. Jill C Tombstone Arizona

Thank you for the quick response! Your video helped me a lot! I own a small farm with Scottish Highlands. We keep all heads and end caps. I now have one sanded almost to the shine, cut the bottom and hopefully by sanding I will get it to stand by itself. Seems I need a weight on bottom inside or glue to something. It hopefully will be displayed for holding bracelets, which I also make. I'll figure it out before my first show in August. Now pricing, any idea how I can figure that? On line price is all over the place. Can't really go by materials cost plus a percentage.these are going to be my high end seller. Sorry, I'm just babbling my thoughts. Thanks again for a great video,!

While I'm watching this I'm wondering where so you uput the glass of which you speak?
@CharlesDearingScroller9 ай бұрын
The glass is on my desk. A clean sheet of paper with carbon paper is taped to it on the corners. The printout is taped on the top and away we go
@CharlesDearingScroller9 ай бұрын
If you're wondering where I get the glass from, I buy a cheap 11 x 14 frame from Walmart and take the glass out of the frame.

Hi Charles, thanks for the video. What type of spiral blade are you using and how much tension do you put on the blade when mounted. I use Olsen blades but I get wiggly lines when I cut. The blade has a hard time to follow a straight line compared to my one sided blades. I'm thinking that I'm not tensionning the blade properly?
@CharlesDearingScroller9 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. It does sound like you need more tension on the blade. To be sure, I have a video elsewhere on my channel called "Anatomy Of A Scroll Saw" that mentions the sound you want to hear when it's properly tensioned. I use only Flying Dutchman spirals #3 and #5
