1 year after a spine fusion surgery (L2-S1) and suffered from a partial foot drop. Upon discharge, I was given a whole PT treatment plan and that was a huge help. I have adapted and found ways to do things with the limitations I now have. The most useful tool is the grabber so I don’t have to bend to pick up things on the ground. I use my cane to snag things higher than me.

I am a retired nurse with 47 years of experience in almost every field including Long term care, intensive care and even paediatrics…when I first worked in ICU we used to quip that we were searching for the antidote to death…it held true for my career…and yet old people I care for were not as fearful of, nor reticent to face, death. Our society is …as Atul Gawande states…asking the wrong questions.

I had to figure so much of this on my own. At the hospital they just handed me the crutches and there were no instructions attached that I grew to despise crutches particularly with one leg non-weightbearing but now I am comfortable with them.

If a healthy person can perform this movements without bending, how does a person do them after surgery? Also, you don’t mention how to dress if you previously had knee surgery. We with previous total knee replacements can’t have the same range of motion as the model. There’s no way I could put my socks and shoes on

Funny watching someone who didn't just have surgery make the movements looks so easy. Now try doing it all while being in excruciating pain.

I had spinal fusion and decompression l3-s1 6 days ago. I was given Norco tablets for pain. I was walking an hour after surgery. I took one tablet day 1, then 1 that night then none the next day, then two overnight the next two nights. I haven't had one now since two nights ago. The hardest things were turning over in bed at night. I was released 4 days after surgery when drainage was slow enough. Today I'm at about 8k steps.

@@JohnReyst Nice. I had L5S1 discectomy. Was pretty much back to 100% after 2 months. Playing golf, lifting heavy at the gym, and no taking it easy at work. Still get a little sore after playing golf, but it goes away quickly. The key was definitely getting back to walking as much as possible as quickly as possible. Physical therapy helped a lot too, but you can easily find the exercises they give you online and do them at home. Sounds like you are on the right track. Good luck with your recovery.

I was diagnosed with ICP and as of October 1, 2023, ICP now has a new ICD-10 code 026.64 with further designations for trimester of onset. Medical professionals will now be able to accurately document ICP cases in patients’ medical charts, marking a significant step forward in the recognition and management of this condition.

If it weren’t so horrifying, it would actually be funny listings to the cheerful voice telling you what to expect after something like this. I’ve come to realize that medical professionals do not want to point out the agony you will go through because they don’t want to scare anyone away from the surgery. As for me,I’ll take death before open heart surgery. As long as I can find a good hospice program.

I just had my 1st Csection after 2 Vbacks!! It has been such an experience nothing like the video which I wish was true cause then nobody would mind to get a C-section done!! 1st day not soo bad because you still have the anesthesia wearing off the second day is soooo hard once you feel everything!! That’s when it starts to get real! All they would give me in the hospital was norcos, with Tylenol and some gas medication and stool softeners! It was a pain to sit in the toilets it hurt sooo bad to sit down it hurt to walk so much feels like your insides are just burning off of pain! Showering wasn’t tooo bad because I had a chair in the hospital shower lucky!! But it was still very hard!! Coming home I was popping pills left to right I couldn’t move as much or walk how they say to do so much harder after the 1st day 🥲😭 I didn’t use pads only adult diapers which was the best thing ever!!!!!!!! I have 2 other children at home 5yr old and a 2 yrs which my 2 yr old son require still a lot more attention which was so hard my husband would be taking care of me, our newborn and our 2 other sons I felt sooo bad for him I know it was a handful thankfully out newborn is such a good baby and wasn’t needing to be care for ever hour he would sleep u til feeding time again and to change diapers! This is day 3 of my surgery and at times it feels like I’m getting better but then once I get back up or walk around a little bit and getting back up from the bed it’s when it hits to the point where I want to cry of being desperate for pain free! But moms we got this!!!!

Im a 75 year young caregiver with a company. You do need to be concerned. Buy a long term policy at 60. This Dementia is tough on the family. Tough enough you have to watch your loved one slowly decline then it becomes financial. I’m grateful I’m healthy .

It was very good to see the video. The role of community paramedics in our society is unparalleled. Community paramedics work to provide proper health care to the underprivileged and marginalized people. I am proud to be a member of community paramedics in Bangladesh. I will always be ready to serve people inshallah.

If men had to go though this crap, we'd die out as a species! It would happen ONCE & that's it! Then we'd brag about how big & how heavy the kid was like lying about fishing. And how long we were in labor. "It took 14 days, I swear, cause the damn kid was 17 lbs. & just shy of 3 feet long! I swear!!
