I'm 4 weeks out from L3, L4, L5 spinal fusion with Lamenectomy. Recovery is rough. It helps to walk several times a day. A cane does help with balance and a couple of grabber tools are invaluable. My Neurosurgeon put me in a back brace for 3 months.

In 2023 I had a thoracic spinal stroke. The result is paralysis from the ribs down. The pain and pressure in the abdomen are terrible. I did not give up and I am slowly recovering from this hellish disease and, most importantly, I can walk on my own, although my legs are numb and cold. Jacek from Poland

Excellent video, had L3 L4 fusion with large Cyst removal. This is my 2nd Surgery. As a Health care worker we have resources others may not. There is one resource that's irreplaceable. My Loving Wife. Hang in there it's a different kind of pain one that will test you for sure. Lean on videos like this and Family.❤

I had spinal fusion surgery around two months ago and right now I can say it was the WORST decision I ever made! I'd had back problems for years. It would get bad then get better. I thought having surgery was the best choice! WRONG! Right now my back is as bad or worse than it was before surgery! Now they want me to come back and let them cut on me again! I don't see how I can do it! I might end up worse shape!

I'm using one of these for 2 weeks BEFORE lung surgery to build up my strength. They never tell you to do that but everybody should, in my opinion. I should get an honorary medical degree for this idea. I can get mine up to 3500 after 45 pack years. Not bad.

1 year after a spine fusion surgery (L2-S1) and suffered from a partial foot drop. Upon discharge, I was given a whole PT treatment plan and that was a huge help. I have adapted and found ways to do things with the limitations I now have. The most useful tool is the grabber so I don’t have to bend to pick up things on the ground. I use my cane to snag things higher than me.

I have a partial foot drop now, and I'm going for spinal surgery in January and I'm hoping that I will regain full use of my foot. Did you get back full use of your foot after surgery? My Doctor said that I could get back use of my foot because the nerve is not cut, it's just compressed, so once the pressure is alleviated, the nerves should function normally and because I didn't wait years, it's only been nine months, I should get back 80-90 percent function in my right foot. Did your foot regain function?

I am a retired nurse with 47 years of experience in almost every field including Long term care, intensive care and even paediatrics…when I first worked in ICU we used to quip that we were searching for the antidote to death…it held true for my career…and yet old people I care for were not as fearful of, nor reticent to face, death. Our society is …as Atul Gawande states…asking the wrong questions.

I had to figure so much of this on my own. At the hospital they just handed me the crutches and there were no instructions attached that I grew to despise crutches particularly with one leg non-weightbearing but now I am comfortable with them.

If a healthy person can perform this movements without bending, how does a person do them after surgery? Also, you don’t mention how to dress if you previously had knee surgery. We with previous total knee replacements can’t have the same range of motion as the model. There’s no way I could put my socks and shoes on
