I met my lovely ex husband when my son was 5. We have been divorced for over 20 yrs but he is who my son rings for Father’s Day, not the sperm donor who hasn’t bothered with him for 8 yrs. My ex taught him to tell the time, to ride a bike, to tie his shoes and took him fishing. And he loves my son as his own even though we are no longer married. He rings him to check on him and have a chat (he’s in another state now) and I love him for that. Spoke to him yesterday, I still call him darling. He has a beautiful wife who knows not to be threatened by me or my friendship with him as we do not have those feelings for each other anymore, and she has come along for tea to our place. Just venting and feeling sorry for myself I have two step kids my youngest daughter was 3 years old and my stepson was 5 when I got together with their mom. I also have a biological daughter that I was not part of half of her life because I went to war. My biggest regret in life is that I haven’t been called DAD by any of them ever.
