Worst version possible...with all my respect to Murray. Almost inaudible his interpretation..with staccato unmuzicable... His staccato is just vomiting anti muzic...agressive and non muzical...he did n understand anything of this piece...nevrotic agresivity... Inaudible...Worst than a robot...I m pain even When write this comment and I hear this shitty interpretation...headick...he should n play never this piece...manière and exaggerating...and agressive...and metalic sound...and rigid...and fake romantisme...it's a fail...fake narcisitic interpretation

8 years after my original comment, I still think this is the best performance on this piece on the internet. Masterful, emotional and played with so much passion.

Meh! Somehow uneven and muddy, he doesn’t seem to have a clear idea of how this movement should come together. And, if the second movement is that slow as the 15 seconds at the end of this video suggest, the audience would have fallen asleep before the end of it. Uninspiring!

The best and only. That's how I feel Chopin-each note makes you cry because it is so painful or so beautiful.

Papi played Chopin every day until he was 92 and didn't wake up. Yes, at least as many mistakes, but with what pleasure and joy in the rest of the notes! Horowitz is testament that some wines age beautifully

Something that says pro is that he makes a little mistake (I think?!) at 2:06-7... just one weird note.. .and he just powers through. That would have derailed my brain.

Call my opinion uncool or unpopular if you like, but this is near double speed and destroys the subtlety of the piece. Whole beat interpretation reigns for me.

Think Murray Perahia is perhaps the best of them all. It's his touch. His Schubert is the best there is.
