I've made these kinds before... Fun to make!!! I find that if you make a curvy line instead of the straight one (bandsaw), it just has a better appeal... Nice work!

That is cool but I think that is way too big for a cutting board. This look more like a butcher block than a cutting board. When you cut meat or vegetables on your cutting board, it is expected to lift it up with one hand and shove whatever you have cut into cooking pan, pot or bowl. Also I don't think you can easily wash and clean this in a sink because of the sizes. I think you can make out 9 cutting boards out of this; that is how big and thick this is imo. lol

Appreciate the comment and thanks for watching 🙏. I’m assuming you’re not from the United States? Here it’s definitely a butcher block but not too big for what we cut up. This would be a good size for a medium size brisket or something along that line.

I’ll unfortunately have to make another one down the road too. We have one dog left and he’s 8 with some health issues. I’m sure we have a few years left with him though. 115lb Alaskan Malamute.

I just finished watching the whole build, I gotta say you did an amazing job! I'm mentally getting ready to build a stand for my own tank and I've been watching many build videos on KZbin to pick up as many helpful idea's as I can. Your videos have contributed a lot towards that so I thank you. I'm nowhere near as skilled as you are but I have built one stand in the past which I think turned out pretty good considering my somewhat minimal woodworking experience. I'm hoping that this next stand turns out even better.

Thanks for the comment, and kind words. This is my second aquarium stand I’ve built. The first was 180 gallon that I did 8 years ago. I learned from all the things I didn’t like about that one and fixed them on this one. After having this one a few years I wouldn’t mind getting a bigger tank and doing another stand video. Thanks again for watching 🙏.

@ekgwoodworks2931
@ekgwoodworks2931 Жыл бұрын
I actually didn’t show that step, but I soaked it then clamped it some and let it dry. Soaked it again and clamped all the way and let it dry. Then when you cover it with glue it’s pliable enough to clamp and hold. I also skipped the finish sanding in the video just because it’s boring lol. Thanks for watching!

What wood did you use for the stand and canopy?

Vey nice build and got a great cause. May I also suggest putting a container at the back of the saw and let the pieces fall into the container rather than trying to lean over the spinning blade and delicately trying to retrieve it. It won’t take much for that to bite you! You have a new subscriber.

How tall is your stand And are you satisfied with that hight?
@ekgwoodworks2931
@ekgwoodworks2931 Жыл бұрын
I made it roughly 36” tall. I made it the same height as my kitchen counter, because eventually I’m gonna make a cabinet to get next to it. Love the height being higher than factory stands. Don’t have to bend down to see in.

Great video, I love seeing new canopy designs especially! One wish is that you spent a bit more time on the hinge for the whole front panel....those 180+ degree hinges can be done in a few different ways and I would have loved to see how you solved it :)
