Love seeing this . Thanks Mike. Yeah these fish been shredding our Skipper Toad. To improve the keeling on the bait allow it to sink for 4-5 seconds as it hits the water . It’s hard to wait that long but if you do the bait will right itself belly down and keel correctly
@flipflopfishingAZ5 күн бұрын
Yw! They're really fun to fish. I did notice the baits would right themselves if I let it sit still a bit but it didn't really seem to matter if they were right-side up or not. I was able to hook up on nearly every bite.

Hey Mike, Thanks for taking us on your adventures. FUN TIMES! I really enjoy seeing the different lakes you fish. I live and kayak fish in Northern Arizona and was thinking about driving down south to fish your lakes. I've fished Canyon lake and Alamo in late October (when it's not so hot) .I'm watching you catch a lot of fish. My question is; in the summer time, are you fishing mornings or evenings only? Do the fish still bite when it's the hottest part of the day, like 12 noon to 4pm?
@flipflopfishingAZ6 күн бұрын
Hey, thank you and you're very welcome! I typically fish in the mornings. I launch about 30 minutes before sunrise. How long I fish depends on how good the bite is and the weather (mostly wind). In my experience, the bass will bite all day, in fact, sometimes the afternoons are better than the morning.

Bartlett is an overlooked lake IMO; I fish cats there. The water level is dropping like a stone though based on my observations over the last 10 days. Mike, I really like your Kayak setup. The stealth it provides you and the access to water larger boats don't get to makes it even better. I don't know if this is fact or fiction but the Flathead catfish may play a huge part in controlling the size and number of the bass in Bartlet.

How hot was it out there? How do you manage lol
@flipflopfishingAZ18 күн бұрын
I fish all year so by the time the real heat arrives I'm acclimated. I drink tons of water the day before and during fishing, wear a hat & UV clothing that covers most of my exposed skin & wear a mask on my face. I also arrive at the lake an hour before sunrise & fish until about noon or so (depends on the wind & how the bite is going). It's not too bad. I never really get hot and I rarely even sweat. It's typically cooler on the water and even better if there's a slight breeze. If all else fails, I dunk in the water to cool off. =)
