Gorgeous love the detail and glazing

Also, try this. Do your background. Do your outline in dark color, then do your darkest color first, the go dark to light. It will save time. Instead of switching from dark to light then going back and forth all the time.
@Freeyourself2066 ай бұрын
Instead of deepening with water use a clear glaze instead. The water ratio is too high . It will affect the quality of your painting over time

I’ve just come across your video! I love your techniques! I am so glad I found this and I subscribed! Your work is amazing! I hope more people come across your videos! I have a question, what was the gadget you used to the bokeh effects? Thank you for sharing!
@WhiteNorthStudio577 ай бұрын
@lisab7787 Thank you. I used a brass pipe fitting. It was the only circle-shaped object I could find in the house that was the right size. I scrubbed out the paint with a stiff-bristle brush and then used a Kleenex to lift off the scrubbed paint.

Where did u get the stencil of the Raven, if u don't mind me asking
@WhiteNorthStudio577 ай бұрын
@monicacoyle3760 I print out a copy of the reference photo the correct size, and then trace it onto the canvas with carbon paper. And I source my reference photos from different free websites, if I can't take my own. Thank you, hope this helps.

Just found your channel and subscribed. I like the way you describe your methodology at each step including your changes in decision making. How did the acrylic retarding medium work out? Beautiful paintings, keep posting. 👍👍👍👍👍
@WhiteNorthStudio577 ай бұрын
@cdcopley8207 Thank you. The retarding medium actually worked great. The paints remained wet and workable much longer, although I still like to store them in my airtight box with added moisture 'just in case,' when I'm not using them.

This is stunning, and inspiring. I am an oil painter that so far hasn’t been able to make the switch to acrylic, but your work and seeing your process has given me an incentive to try again. Looking forward to more from your channel.
@ZharelAnger7 ай бұрын
It is a different method: background first (If your subject will be done with quality high density pigments you need not worry about paining over the sketch as was done here), letting layers cure, generous use of gesso to prep the canvas, use of water misting.... You may be pleasantly surprised as to how your oil style and acrylic style differ. Once you develop your styles, choosing between the two mediums for particular projects becomes easy. Acrylic also works well with airbrushes and watercolor.

Excellent piece. Ravens always know how to address the mood. Nice detail in your work here and in your other paintings. Would you consider including an actual list of the colors you are using? Well, sheers to your day and your flow.
@WhiteNorthStudio577 ай бұрын
@steve_oh8263 Thank you. I use DecoArt Americana paints, so not the most high-end stuff, but I've always gotten great results with them. I will try to include a list in future videos.
