this may be an old video, but you finally helped me get vPro working today. Thanks!

Some of this advice is terrible security practice. Same password for every system, even across multiple “client” companies? Disable the need for local user consent? Allow remote users to reconfigure security policies? Wow!

What if you are not on a Domain? Is the Computer Host Name the same as what you use in Windows? Too many issues not addressed in this video.

Yes, update firmware on all devices at once...because that will make for an EXCELLENT Monday if things go wrong! lol

Can always deploy one at a time :). Still a lot easier than signing into each device and deploying locally.

where can I find a list of AMT vpro enabled laptop/desktops?
@tommedhurst63666 жыл бұрын
Use the CPU product code and search for it on Intel's CPU site/database to see if it's a feature.
@abcdefg96135 жыл бұрын
@@tommedhurst6366 anot really. Some systems have the feature in hardware but not enabled. A thinkpad can have it, an IdeaPad not so much.

You are so correct! In the olden days when a 20MB (yes I mean Mega Byte) hard drive was VERY expensive and was full height I had one crash in an accounting office. I purchased a "reconditioned" one that had a virus (unbeknownst to me) in the boot sector! At the time I had only two levels of backup. A tape drive and 3 1/2 inch floppy drives! When I tried to restore from the tape it did not work! Everything looked like it was backing up, but it wasn't? Oh no! I had to re-install DOS 6.2 and then Windows 3.1 and then all the programs. I was blessed that I had purchased all the software, had all the disks organized, etc. Then I found a virus on my computer! Where had that come from? It had been on the boot sector of the "refurbished" drive. What a mess. After I got everything cleaned up, all viruses off, etc. it took a whole day of restoring bookkeeping data one 3 1/2 inch disk at a time and then verifying the data integrity from the printed G/L reports we had. I use this story all the time to tell clients that triple redundancy backup, a disaster recovery plan, and periodic inspection of your systems and oversight of those by a professional is critical! 95% of businesses fail when they lose their data!

How do you find out all that info like your domain and stuff?
@msponramp12 жыл бұрын
Sorry you had a bad experience, but that is not something we have seen internally, nor have heard of it happening from any of our 500+ partners. It doesn't seem likely that Network I/O would be "swamped" with a simple ping of a class C subnet. I would give it another try, and open a support ticket if you see an issue. LAN Watch will soon be replaced by the Discovery module, so you will have to try that out as well! Good luck!
