For thirty years, I worked at the Anschutz Medical Campus. Well, for the first 17 years it was the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Then Phil wrote the University a very, very large check and the AMC was born. Thanks, Phil! As Chief of Staff for the Department of Medicine, I was responsible for our two annual department events, always held at the Brown Palace: the faculty awards dinner in the spring and our holiday extravaganza. The holiday party was always the first night of the Parade of Lights and first-year residents and newly-arrived-to-Colorado faculty loved watching the passing spectacle from the bridge over Tremont Place. Our faculty awards dinner always featured a guest speaker of note. We had senators, governors, Nobel laureates, mayors as guests. Over the 13 years I was in the Department of Medicine I too got to know much of the BP staff who also shared their history of the hotel. She’s retired now (as am I) but a special and sincere “thank you” to Mary Hawley from BP catering who always ensured “my” parties were perfect. And, of course, to Esam, the “captain” of the crew who kept us well feed and hydrated.

The wood for our family cabin which sits about 3 MI south of Grand Lake came from a ranch just outside of Monarch and the owner of that ranch was a friend of Charles Lindbergh. Lindbergh would fly into his Ranch to stay for a few days at a time. At one point there was a mountain named Lindbergh Peak but because of his opposition to the US entry into World War II, it was renamed Lone Eagle Peak. When they decided to build Lake Granby, the original owner and builder of our cabin used some of the wood from that ranch. The reason we know this is because that man who built the cabin stopped by when my mother was there, back in the late seventies, and he explained the story of how our cabin was built. I love your videos I look forward to the next one. Mark Afman

Obviously not from here. No cliff type dwellings in the area of your vid. Those are found in sw Colorado. The places you went and mentioned old bottles were not old. To close to town and many many people prowl around that area. If you went in the summer you would/will notice. Hence notice the security door on the granite store. 20th century finds aren't considered old around here. Ummm your whispering in the background was just rude. Colorado doesn't need any more radical people or thoughts. The roads you were on were far from radical for Colorado. STOP letting your dogs poop in the river! Poop has gotten so bad over by Gunnison the CHAMBER of commerce are giving away poop packs for free! Disgusting what outsiders are doing to this state. 6th generation native. 😢
