What’s the best GPS for trucking.? Especially with over sized loads
@taethetrucker4 күн бұрын
@@Iamamazing381 great question! Not being an asshole when I say this but it will be your permits. When you haul oversized you’ll be given a route on your permits that you have to follow.

Mannn the hardest part is parking between 2 trucks at night, sometimes I would just leave and find a rest area, scared to back up into somebody else, is it easier to see and back up in a flat bed.?
@taethetrucker4 күн бұрын
@@Iamamazing381 honestly I’ve driven both otr and they both are the same. It’s really no cheat to backing up but practice. I would suggest going to a truck stop mid day and practice backing up. It’ll be less semi there so you can do it again and again. Definitely learn how to blind side part too

Wassup bro do you like Wylie better than ATS?
@taethetruckerАй бұрын
You gotta good eye! Off the bat in my opinion both are good companies and I haven’t been with Wylie long enough to give a ranking. What I can say is both companies are extremely welcoming and open. As of now that’s all I can say but I will double back to the comment a little further down the road. For more insight I left Ats because I wasn’t getting the miles I wanted and I was having to much down time in between loads

It’s really not basic, you learn with time and experience unless someone tells you this right out the gate. Depending on what kind of trailer you have there are stoppers already in place and some don’t have them some improvising comes into play.

I started driving in one of those back in 1993. Mine had a 350 horsepower Cummins with a 9 speed Eaton Fuller transmission. Drove one with a 9 speed Rockwell as well. I miss the old cabovers, good visibility, and maneuverability. It's not such a good ride, but you get used to it.

Did you have to follow hand written routes ? If so how did you keep track of where you were going
@taethetrucker4 ай бұрын
When you haul an oversize load you have to have a permit for each state you drive through. Each individual state has a route designated for your specific travel. How I keep track is firstly setting my GPS and secondly by remembering the roads just incase the gps reroutes me.

What inspired you to go flatbed ? & did you know anything about securement before making the switch ?
@taethetrucker5 ай бұрын
To be 100 percent honest with you I got tired of just going to the shipper and receiver getting loaded and unloaded and just sitting behind the wheel waiting around. It’s been a few times I’ve waited on getting loaded with flatbed but very rare! Also I like seeing what I’m hauling and it’s exciting to strap things down. It’s a challenge but for the most part it’s common sense if you take your time. I had zero experience with securing these type of loads. I did something similar in the military with this securing but not to this status. I’m learning as I go literally! If I’m unsure about anything man I ask another flatbed driver getting loaded next to me or even ask the person loading me. “I’ve never haul this before, how do other driver strap this down”. Never be to proud to ask for assistance. GREAT QUESTION!

It’s just that they don’t build roads like they used to. Back in the day engineers took pride and making a perfectly smooth road. Today the job always goes to the lowest bidder and inept workers. Do you drive down most highways and it feels like you’re on a boat and choppy seas. But they must think that everyone drives a Lexus so no one’s gonna feel it.😂

It definitely is. Don’t get me wrong GP is a good choice I’m sure you’ll find them to be a good company and you’ll enjoy the routes. I just needed something more challenging and interesting. If it doesn’t work out over there tap in with me my company has a big dry van division

Yeah, no thanks lol; that's just entirely too much time outside. Just give me a dry van, I'll keep one of those forklift things and we can push them suckas back but yeah I don't want nothing flat bed.

To each is own right? Maybe you should try first and then give an opinion, you might find out that you like it. Some like to just drive and others like to load them up and then drive, personally me flatbed is my favorite and I’ve done touch freight, dry van and refer van.
