The birds at 9:20(ish) are Rainbow Lorikeets. Another native Aussie bird. Haha, they are incredibly noisy but huge clowns.

I want to buy my first talking parrot i really want a cocktaile parrot the one that has a yellow top but i cant afford to buy a big cage is it a problem if the cage is small or if i take the bird out of the cage rarly or often? And could i get some recomandations cause i dont know what to chose a smart singing fun parrot would be somthing im looking for someone will find out a parrot like that and tell me theyr name in the comments

A non- talking parrot that is a great companion is a far far better pet than a talking parrot that you can't handle. I've kept many birds over many years, and I think talking is way over-rated.

I do the same thing for my birds and dogs, but nowhere near this level of toys....I do not want them to get too desensitized to their gadgets. I rotate the toys accordingly...3 at the most each day.

I love that there's so much for him to do, both in his cage and outside, he's obviously well loved and has an enriched life. I've also read mirrors are not good to give birds but all are individuals. My worry is that fabric can be very dangerous for birds as they can ingest it and get crop impaction or end up losing toes when strands wrap around them (I adopted a finch who lost 2 half toes as her previous owner gave her a fabric hut). I think there should be a warning about this for birds generally, to highlight the potential risk. The foraging opportunities are great 😊

Hey, I have a question! Firstly, I want to say that this is an incredible lecture about training a parrot, whether they’re from a sanctuary, shelter, or re-homed for any reason, and you’ve become their new caregiver. We recently adopted a blue-crowned conure, and she is lovely, but there are moments when our communication feels one-sided. For example, when I need to step away for a work meeting or while I’m cooking and don’t want her on my shoulder, she screams because she wants me to come back. She never learned to fly, so I understand how that could be stressful when her only means of getting around is by perching on someone. She has plenty of food, toys, and foraging items to entertain herself, but she currently has no idea or concept of how to do so, making it challenging to provide the mental stimulation she needs. She’s still in the early stages of target training, and "step-up" has been our only success so far (sometimes) because she really wants to hang out with me. Our problem is that we live in an apartment, and I’m sure my neighbors upstairs can hear her. We even sent them a letter with some coffee beans to apologize for the noise, and we’re actively working on it. I guess what I’m trying to ask is, how do you recommend using the ABC method to teach this bird that screaming is not okay without having to ignore her until she does something cute-especially when I’m in work meetings? I can’t step away, and my workplace doesn’t appreciate seeing my birds in the background since they want things to appear professional.

First of all, thank you so much for providing a caring home to a beautiful creation of God. We need s many more people like you. Our rescues are overflowing right now! You are doing things right by working with your bird using positive reinforcement based methods. Here is some free training that can help you get further. www.beakschool.com/free-training We also share interesting nuggets every few days about working with your bird with our email subscribers. So that should help. Once again, thank you so much for thinking about adopting and not getting a bird from a breeder.

My Congo African Gray turns 34 this year. I've had him for 28 years and to say he's been a handful, is an understatement. Not until I retired five years ago and was able to devote most of my time to him did he finally come around and accept me as a member of his flock. Wouldn't recommend getting one unless you have a lot of time on your hands and are willing to put up with a lot of biting (had a lot of stitches and deep puncture wounds on hands, feet and face). I got mine when he was 6 years old for only $600 and he brought all of his baggage from the previous three owners he had, while locally the only ones I've seen near me, they are asking $7500 for a less than 1 year old one while the other that is 35 years old, they are asking $3500 so they aren't cheap nowadays (depending on where you live I guess).

I've read that mirrors are no good for their emotional and psychological state. My male cockatiel is fascinated with mirrors and he wants to sing in front of it (I also have a female cockatiel that doesn't care at all for mirrors). But if I leave one available for him all the time he becomes obsessed with it. So I control the exposure time he has to mirrors. How is your opinion about that, please? Thanks a lot!

My African grey comes out from his cage at 7am an goes back in his cage at 7pm I wouldn't recommend one for someone who hasn't got a lot of time . I got him at 12 weeks old he now 5 he can be a handful sometimes but also very loving an talks quite a lot. But a warning if you let your parrot out all day like I do keep your eyes on him they love to destroy anything and everything furniture. Curtains television remote 😂 wouldn't have him any other way ❤

I wish the price of these birds that you roughly estimate were really true here in Massachusetts the price for each bird you listed people charge triple it makes me so sad knowing how much money that goes into their care and vet and long-term care my dream is to own a parrot one day I have lots of lovebirds Fischers but my dream is to own a ringneck parrot since I was a child but the prices are extremely outrageous I don't think I probably would be able to buy one or adopt
