It is definitely more Souls than Tenchu. How you can say it isn't Souls at all is odd.

"Souls games" have essentially become their own genre. Tenchu is series but no one really says these games are "Tenchu games". Also the problem with Souls-likes and Souls adjacent games is people start to nitpick what aspects about them are and are not "proper Souls elements". I think we can all agree there is a specific handful of things that qualify.

@@REDSHADOWS18 Dude all the things it has in common with "souls likes" (cannot wait for that term to die) are incredibly generic aspects of third person action games. There is no game in the souls series that plays like Sekiro. If it wasn't made by From Soft nobody would call it that.

@@anthonyjohnson6199so, Sekiro doesn’t have extremely challenging bosses, resting spots that bring enemies back to life and ummm you know… loss of money/“souls” if you die? It has way more in common with From Softs Souls games than Tenchu. You are trying to hard here to just to be different. Stop 🛑

@@REDSHADOWS18 Powerful bosses used to be the norm in games also unlike in Souls games you cannot create a broken build that pisses on them in Sekiro. You use what the game gives you. Stealth, your katana, items and acrobatics. You know...like a Tenchu game kiddo. Oh a save system that brings enemies back when you die...you mean like...a checkpoint system. 🤤 You lose money/exp in literally every rpg ever when you die. I guess WoW is a soulslike too according to you. I understand your generation is stupid and lazy and needs to shove everything into broad categories (I get it I grew up in the 90's when every FPS was called a "Doom Clone") but Sekiro has such a radically different feel to any "soulslike" that comparing it is assinine. If FromSoft wasn't the publisher you wouldn't make this claim. Oh hey Armored Core also has tough bosses, makes you lose money when you die and has a system that punishes you for failure. iT's A sOuLsLiKE tOo!!! Also try not to be such a c*nt to people who know more than you kiddo, its not a good look.

A lot of things were missing from this list clearly. Where are Witcher 3, Rebirth, KOTOR, and Mass Effect for example? How about Fallout and Elder Scrolls games (Skyrim has a 96 for example, higher than BG3)?

I did mention in the episode I had to cobble this together since Metacritic (for some reason) doesn't have there own :( But also this list is specifically for turn based RPGs.

For what picking up an animal and using it as a flamethrower, unloading AR rounds into people and creatures, base building and management, be honest with yourself what can Nintendo C&D. basically the only similarities come down to they look like Pokémon and you catch them in balls

48:59 Yes play very similarly! You're not crazy and nice to see someone who knows what they are doing. I usually make my starter base out of one of the abandoned structures, preferably near the Black Forest, because well I'm lazy. The Maypole place at 50:00 near the sea would also be a prime location. 52:40 you can shoot the be hive with arrows to drop it. I do scout out the area quite a bit and live off the land til I find a good spot. The camp @ 47:16 gives you core wood and the stone grave site to the left usually has skele bones.. but not a big deal. I run flint axe/shield as my main weapon till I can get the bronze axe/sword and not a spear guy as it doesn't have a sweeping hit for multiple targets.... but anything works in the meadows obviously. I always mark where the red mushrooms spawns. Not a hardcore survival game player but this is one of the best games I have ever played. GL!
