Dr. Cottrell made a huge impact on my understanding of the faith. I first encountered him when, at seminary, I was required to read a portion of his book God the Ruler. What I read there was so true to my own reading of Scripture it was a wonderful breath of fresh air. In fact, I went on to base my doctoral work on his view of providence in that book comparing it with a popular Calvinist writer at the time (mid '90's). I have read his two volume commentary on Romans no less than three times - and I look forward to reading it again one day. DR. Cottrell was a wonderful man in every respect and I am grateful to the Lord for allowing me the privilege of benefitting from his writings. So good to know he is now with the Lord.

I was saddened to learn that Dr. Cottrell had recently departed this world. I know he is now with his Savior and Lord, but I will miss his ready availability to answer questions by email. May God comfort his loved ones who remain on this side of eternity.

X-Files Free Will Every myth contains at least a kernel of truth and fact is stranger than fiction. Earthling human beings (love) think that "free will" means freedom to appreciate this paradise planet lifeboat and the miraculous works of fine art called "life" that inhabit it. And not be imprisoned and enslaved by hostile alien vampires (greed) and their ignorance (hate). But the hostile evangelical vampires (greed) think that "free will" means freedom to suck the joy out of life and devour the planet like a ravenous cancer. And freedom to imprison and enslave humans. Like bats that fly around in the darkness of caves... vampires (greed) are blind and cannot see the ignorance of transforming heaven (peace) into hell (war). The capitalist counting corpses are also blind and cannot see the ignorance of destroying the planet. Sanction, starve, torture, murder and bomb (wheeeee)! Ignorance (hate) is bliss for vampires (greed). But not much fun for the humans who they are sucking the joy out of. The hostile evangelical vampires (greed) are inhumane because they are not human. The capitalist counting corpses commit crimes against humanity because they are not human. Light and truth (love) cause vampires (greed) great pain and suffering. That's why the words compassion, understanding, society (socialism), community (communism), "care for all" and "green new deal" cause the capitalist counting corpses that rule US such misery. The evangelical monsters are extremely "desperate" to control a darkship called the Whitehouse. Because working in the dark to suck the joy out of life and destroy the planet is the only way that the loveless, lifeless parasites can survive and thrive. It's also how the hostile alien invaders keep their human capital (cattle) corralled. Unlike earthling poets artists, musicians, mystics human beings and creators of joy...the capitalist counting corpses that rule US can't create harmony (real intelligence) because vampires (greed) are ignorant (dead). Vampires (greed) who suck the joy out of life have joined the zombies who eat the futures of their children. Zombie Apocalypse is here and happening now. Metaphysics 101 Transforming frowns into smiles is smarter than turning lead into gold. And transforming heaven (peace) into hell (war) is more ignorant (dead) than turning gold into lead. Question. Why are the evangelical counting corpses using the bible as a springboard to perform somersaults to do the exact opposite of "love their neighbors" and "treat others like they want to be treated"? Answer. This is sick. Because these simple concepts are too far out there to grasp for vampires and zombies. Lead into gold Tears into roses Weapons into ploughshares Darkness (business) exists so that stars like US have a place to shine in heaven (joy, beauty and harmony). Stars like US don't exist to be sucked out of heaven by a giant black hole in space called "greed" and it's ignorance (hate). Also, Love spent billions of years creating this paradise planet lifeboat so that her miraculous works of fine art called "life" have a beautiful place to "be". Love didn't spend so much time creating this paradise planet lifeboat to be depreciated, polluted and destroyed in a brief moment by hostile alien monsters and their ignorance (hate) FYI. Jesus (good/god) was not a "ransom sacrifice" for hostile alien monsters and their ignorance (hate).
