Really appreciate this. I'm recording this with my band. I play guitar, but my bassist is out for some things so I'm picking up the bass part for the recording it seems. I know the song by heart but the bass often befuddles me

just a guess, but I think it has more to do with the post-timbre mixing EQ than with the recorder.

That slapping is much harder than it looks. I'm new to it, and its just as tiring as singing is for me at the moment. I've been playing "dreaming of you" by the coral as it uses 1-5 on the bass and anarchy in the uk. I;m working up to psychobilly freakout. It's easy in theory, harder in practice. Lots of forearm strength. I've got steel strings with a very high action as I havent had the bridge adjusted just yet, but getting there with my technique. I love playing it. So much fun and looks cool as fuck.

Thanks for sharing your journey! Slap bass is definitely a workout, especially with high action and steel strings. It's all about building that forearm strength and getting comfortable with the technique. If you ever think about switching from steel strings, Superior Bassworks has gut-alike strings that sound really good. Yes and yes, haha. Same strings from Superior Bassworks and the same recording setup. This one has a bit more room reverb than the last ones.

2014 was the last Ink N Iron in Long Beach, if I remember correctly. Two stages and a killer lineup all days: Guana Batz, King Kurt, Batmobile, Klingonz. I recorded tons of videos there. I'll be posting them in the coming weeks. Cheers!

I'm using the zoom H4 as an interface and recording the bass acoustically with the mic. No amp.
