Just finished Nexus it was really good. Kind of an action movie in a book but I liked that. Sometimes I like literature, sometimes I just want to read some cool fight scenes.

I'm reading this book at the moment, and I wasn't sure if I should carry on and invest energy into it or not as I know very little about philosophy or the enlightenment. But you convinced me I should try. Also. You seem like the kind of smart girls I like to get to know. Let's be friends. :D

I finished the same anthology as you and I liked the same stories you did. If I asked you to read some science fiction titles of mine, would you consider that spam?

I'm looking forward to your review of The Kingdom of Copper. I think The City of Brass is wonderfully written but the sequel is another thing. I mean, you think it couldn't get more complex and emotional and then opps! it does!

Awww I love Murderbot, too. Another great A.I. book is The Mad Scientist's Daughter by Cassandra Clarke. I highly recommend it! Also, Autonomous by Annalee Newitz and Heart of Iron by Ashley Poston. :)

"You didn't enjoy Planetfall" what!!!! the very end might be "questionable" but????? I do like The Murderbot Dairies and am impatiently waiting for #3 to make up for my need for more AI I'm reading Sea of Rust (50% through) and liking it, but the robots are a bit too "human"?

Hi! I also love AI books and just wanted to recommend some books I loved and liked with AI. I absolutely loved The Mad Scientist's Daughter by Cassandra Clarke. I also enjoyed Autonomous by Annalee Newitz and Heart of Iron by Ashley Poston. :) What are your favorite AI books?

Great reviews! You're really well-spoken and convinced me on quite a few of the books. Although Themis Files still just isn't for me. Have you read All Systems Red (The Murderbot Diaries)? The second one is coming out soon and I'm really excited about it. You might like it, too :)

I like the Sarah Anderson books.......I still haven't read Tamora's novels, but I just took her graphic novel out from the liberry.....it's called White Tiger....a female, Hispanic superhero............lol, I read some of Wrinkle and I didn't love it......she did seem rather annoying.......and it's pretty tough to finish a book when the lead is annoying...............thanks for sharing this very interesting video! :))
@TiffyDaud6 жыл бұрын
Yeah I frequently DNF books, especially ones with annoying leads, but since it was short and I want to eventually watch the film, I decided to push through. But the others books I read this month were great!

Revenant Gun and more murderbot are probably/possibly the most eagerly awaited reads coming up. And SpaceOpera which I was hoping to get on audible but unfortunately is not available in UK(?) I listened to Hitchhiker's Guide on the radio back in the day and was hoping to recapture my youth! (damn amazon, I make them rich and they don't care?)

You are a more forgiving reviewer than I. I could not get over the “oopsie, we did a mass murder” aspect of Binti. She had to live in that abattoir for, what?, a week? Two weeks? The bodies of slain students and crew everywhere. I mean, the smell alone... ugh. And it didn’t even bother her.~~~And the twin deus ex machina things which saved her life, oy. First, the “magic mud” which she smears all over her body just so happens to be an insta-heal for the aliens, plus that tchotchke she inexplicably carries around with her suddenly switches on for the first time in recorded history and it just so happens to allow her to communicate with the murderous aliens. That’s just bad storytelling, regardless of whether it’s a metaphor for something.~~~Plus, they just let the medusae off the hook! And then apologized to them! A real WTF moment there. A direct analogy in the real world is apologizing to the kid who murdered his classmates in Florida and letting him go home to play video games. I kinda don’t see that happening. If they’d held the kids hostage and only killed out of self-defense, then sure. But massacring an entire ship full of kids doesn’t exactly put people in a forgiving mood.~~~That said, I thought your reviews were solid and cogent, and clearly presented. Well done.

Yeah it's YA and feels a lot like Illuminae (for comparison, if you've read that). And I don't think YA lends itself well to audiobook form.

I should get on getting to Null States. Infomocracy was excellent but I have been a little distracted recently, the mythical TBR is constantly growing while I've been lost on Hyperion, another victim of the Shrike nailed to the tree of thorns!
