Hmm... $500 isn't bad for that build. Lately I've been selling some HP systems with 8th Gen i7s, 32GB of RAM, 1TB SSD and a 3060 12GB for $600 to $650. Granted, those are OEM flips and are going to get less money for that fact, but being an i5 was likely the deciding factor there. Like you said, had it had an i7, I think it would have sold for more.

older amd am4 systems are a good platform for upgrade and resell. if you can find a system running a ryzen 2700x or 3600x on an am4 board your upgrade path is great. last gen amd (5000) processors have really good pricing right now and an upgrade to a 5600x,5700x, or 5800x could yield a good return depending on which gpu the system has. liked the episode, these old pc's show how far we have come in hardware despite the stan's whining about performance uplift generation to generation.

Nothing wrong with a 8600K and GTX 1080, solid build. Would have a hard time with that price though. Considering a new 12100F build with an A580 or RX 6600 can be done for under $500.

I would rather have the 8600K. Yes, the 12100F is going to have higher IPC, but it's going to have worse frame pacing due to only being a quad core. Plus... you can OC the 8600K. Besides, the 8600K isn't really going to bottleneck a 6600 anyways. The only real argument for the 12100F is upgrade path... and with the state of Intel right now, it's not as much of a plus as it used to be.

one overlooked aspect of these thinkstations turned into gaming rigs...power consumption. You may have gotten a deal on the build..but longterm and long gaming sessions will likely reflect on the electric bill. I might run something as a testing rig for playing with virtual machines...or put debian + casaOS on it and run some docker containers..but not 24/7 operation just as a learning tool. I'd use something less power hungry for 12hr/7 operation.
@PCTechHustle
@PCTechHustle Күн бұрын
Honestly I think you are over thinking it. Unless you are running high work loads all day /every day MAYBE you will see an impact on your electricity. This workstation will consume about equal power levels as any other gaming PC. Just because it has a 900w PSU does not mean it's pulling that much power at all time.
@marcc5768
@marcc5768 Күн бұрын
@@PCTechHustle Perhaps. Of course it's only drawing higher power while during heavy loads, not all games are heavy loads..unless something like a Triple A title. However as a home server doing multiple tasks..as you said would consume more. I don't have a killAwatt meter..so I am unable to test the rigs I have. I used to do 5 hour gaming sessions..can't handle that anymore lol. It's not the PSU I factor, it's the total system draw during loads I'm usually curious on. From what I am aware 13 and 14 gen intel CPUs are more power hungry than what comes in P520 build. Not to mention the current gen of GPUs.

It's pretty obvious you have done zero research on this topic. This was BIG NEWS previously, and AceMagic really screwed up sending out infected PCs. Infected so bad that could have seriously reined unknowing people's lives. This was also not a review video of the product, but a follow-up to what has happened since the original break of the virus infected batches and how the brand responded, which I would say wasn't impressive. I also made my intentions clear with the vendor on what I would be talking about prior to releasing the video. If anything I hope to provide insightful information for a new-buyer to know the history of this company / PC. I don't understand why you can't get behind that. Yes, reformatting the drive is what I stated should be done to add an additional layer of protection to yourself. Honestly though, the fact that you mentioned doing that shows you have shaky trust in the product yourself. Why else would you suggest doing that on a fresh / brand new PC? Get YOUR facts strait before spewing nonsense!

hello, I notice this is a bit of an old video but I am working on building something like this myself. However I got a 1650 that is requiring power it is the gigabyte version I believe it may be over clocked as it says OC on it which i had not noticed when ordering, I have been looking into if using sata to 8 pin would work for this. Unfortunately I have not found a definite answer yet and don't want to order a part that I am not sure would work. It is my understanding that the 1650 uses 75 watts so not sure why this needs extra power. Anyway curious to hear your thoughts on the matter and thanks in advance...

This is a great video and I am a huge fan of the optiplex gaming builds. Especially the 9020 mini tower. So many possibilities. I have one myself. However, I feel like a case swap is necessary. I moved mine into a phanteks case, got all the necessary adapters for front I/o and power buttons, and even got 5 fans going thanks to 5 pin to 4 pin adapters and a fan hub. I also put in a sata to rgb hub and have leds on all the fans. It is basically a real gaming pc now. Mine has a 1060 in it currently but I’m thinking about throwing my 2070 super in. If I have enough space in the case and have my after market psu (750 watt) than it should work okay right ? I’m guessing some bottle neck from my i7-4770
