Great demo, nice tones! I finally got my hands on an IR-2 and am going through the process of adding 3rd party ir's. So many to choose from and then when you get one there are so many mixes and options that my ears start playing tricks on me lol. So far, I got the York FTWN 212 which sounds great and your demo gave me an idea of what those other ir's sound like as I dial in the other amp models.

I like your playing. No more pedal reviews? Which drive pedals have you settled on? Based on your review I’m thinking of picking up the EQD speaker cranker. I have a new gig with a female vocalist. With the material they’re doing I’m going to need shades of pushed cleans and medium grit and everything I currently have on the board is sounding too aggressive and then too dull when I turn my guitar’s volume down. Playing a vintage style Strat. Gonna try and stick with my Tumnus mini as a solo boost. Wondering how it might stack with the speaker cranker? Thanks.
@mikekratochwill4195Ай бұрын
Thanks for the kind words. I plan to do some more reviews but just haven't had the time lately. If I were to pick three/four favorites for the drives I own, it would probably be Timmy, Tumnus Deluxe, and a tie between the EQD Special Cranker or Keeley Super AT Mod. Those are both really good low gainers. Another good option... A friend loaned me his Oneder Old Blue recently. If low gain, good cleanup is something you're looking for, that would be an incredible choice as well! I was so impressed with that pedal. The only thing that's kept me from getting one, is that I have so many drive pedals already! I'm assuming the Tumnus mini would stack well with the Special Cranker. My Tumnus Deluxe does real well with it!

It sounds like you did all of this in mono? why would you do that when stereo widening is the strength of this pedal
@mikekratochwill41956 ай бұрын
Because it sounds good in mono too. Not everyone is interested in a stereo rig. This video (as the title suggests) was to showcase the versatility of the MicroPitch. I'm sure there are plenty of demo's out there that showcase the stereo sounds of this pedal. Search for them!

Beautiful playing! May I ask if these pickups are relatively noisy or are they fairly quiet? Also, have you had any feedback issues at higher gain? Thank you
@mikekratochwill419511 ай бұрын
Thanks for listening! As for the pickups, being single coil P90's they do have more noise than a humbucker. But as far as that goes, I don't think they're noisy. They sound incredible! As for the feedback, I never really tried in a real world scenario. I can't really play my amps loud at all so I'm mostly using plug-ins and an HX Stomp and studio monitors these days. I suspect though that this particular guitar could feedback at higher volumes as it's a full hollow-body guitar. I can't really test it out anymore as I ended up swapping this guitar out for an Eastman L00 style acoustic guitar! I do plan to buy another Eastman electric someday but I might go semi-hollow as opposed to a full hollow-body. They have some models that are more the spec of a 339 guitar with smaller body dimensions. The T64 felt really huge to me with it's larger dimensions. But despite that, the T64 was a great guitar and in a perfect world, I could keep all the guitars.
@ajsmith418111 ай бұрын
Thanks for the detailed reply! Helped quite a bit. I think I’m going to look into semi hollow for the high gain reason. Eastman sure makes some great guitars, I hope the quality stays up to par the more popular they get. Thanks again, happy holidays!

The Belle...I have the deluxe is my favorite pedal above my riverside Radial ABY and EHX oceans 12...the only pedal I like comparably is my cheap little mxr phase 90. The Belle has an almost Allman brothers feel...but Hendrix EVH and Bolin type sounds...and can go from subtle to insane with an expression pedal. The preamp for me is why it's always on once it is off I hate my tone...I mean it's ok...but with the Belle the Pre on always is the sound of the 70's instantly and it will suit Metal as well...The Amp drive into tape at about 10.30 is a free tape overdrive by driuving the tape level into tape saturation, Howard was a genius at CB.

Just curious, how much of a difference did you feel the 500k pots made? I hate the idea of replacing stock pots… but the 250k pots seem like a strange choice for p90s.
@mikekratochwill4195 Жыл бұрын
For me, it was a huge difference. I think the 500k pots brought the guitar to life. It was like there was a blanket over it with the 250k. I'm not sure why Eastman went with the decision to go 250k especially considering Lollar recommends 500k for that pickup.

Thanks for listening! The demo you're hearing is actually an earlier Fuzzy Fox with an unfinished enclosure. Same circuit though as the Seafoam version which is pictured in my video. Rhylan (the builder) was cool enough to loan me the Fuzzy Fox that I used to make this demo. But I thought his Seafoam finish was cooler looking so I posted the picture in the video. I later ended up purchasing one of his white Fuzzy Foxes. I think there may have been a slight change to part of the circuit on the white Fuzzy Fox. I'm not 100% sure though as it sounds similar. I should make a demo of that one sometime!

@mikekratochwill4195 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for listening and for the kind words! For the signal chain I'm just running the Mood to an HX Stomp through a Clarett interface into my PC. The Stomp is supposed to function as its own interface but for some reason, it causes my PC to crash all the time so now I have to run it through an interface. I almost got an Infinite Jets as well but I was saving up for an LVX. Then this Mood came out and I ended up with that instead. I love the Mood - the Delay, Reverb, and Slip modes are all so cool. The micro-looper still confuses me sometimes but I've gotten better with it. I love the reverb of the Mood because it reminds of the Polymoon actually. It's more like a slapback delay that you can smear. Such a cool sound!

From personal experience, I have never been a fan of the Boss analog delay (love the digitals though). They are warm but something about the low mids sounds rather off although you have it dialed in very nicely here. I run a combo of a Belle Epoch for a warm delay sound and a Boss DD-7 for a bright chimey delay sound but if I only could have one it would be the Belle Epoch. I normally prefer brighter delay sounds but the Belle Epoch just sounds so natural while being warm.
@mikekratochwill4195 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for listening shred5! I have to admit, I don't think I've tried any of the Boss Digital delays. Sometimes bright and chimey is a good thing and I should really check some of them out. I no longer have the DM-2. Perhaps that low mid sound you are referring to was a factor? I did notice my DM-2 would get kind of noisy as I increased the delay time. I decided to sell it in favor of a Maxon AD999 which is still my favorite analog delay. I also still have my Belle Epoch. I know a lot of tape echo offerings have been releases since, but the Belle Epoch is a classic.

Klon style pedals are definitely mid focused. The interesting thing is they let through some of the clean signal as well as the distorted signal. The lower the gain, the more clean comes through. There are lots of videos comparing Klon klones to KTRs (The modern release from Klon) as well as the original centaurs. The actual schematic has been all over the internet so the duplicates all sound extremely close to the real thing. Did you try stacking them in the reverse order?
