@@Wildb0y cool mate thanks Iv only got a Mpc a td3 and a volca keys at the moment I was thinking about a ms 1 or a korg minilogue next what do you think
@Wildb0y7 сағат бұрын
Interesting question! Which MPC have you got? I love the MS-20, I have a soft spot for it as it’s so versatile, has some great querks and is a great teacher of synthesis. I would personally go for that but then you need to program it from the MPC. Hence the question. This choice would be with view to later down the line considering the Korg monologue for some poly action, another fantastic synth korg, one act korg has a great range of synths they do a good job of making them fun and unique.

You get it pretty loud, but is it loud enough, as against commercial releases? And do you then use a maximiser or limiter itb?
@Wildb0y18 күн бұрын
Hi there, good question. I will test to see how loud it really is! Here i'm demonstrating a chain for recording a live performance or streaming. When it comes to a commercial release, even with years of mixing and mastering under y belt i would always prefer to have another human wrap their ears round it at the mastering stage. Its good practice, how ever tempting it is to do it your self. I also feel supporting mastering engineers with their craft is important especially with the new shiny A.I mastering options out their. Nothing beats a human relationship in the creative process. So to answer your question about using a final clipepr/limiter ITB, technically yes for commercial release, although this still could be hardware, and no for live performance recordings or streaming. I plan to collect my best performances from my shows and live streaming in the future and release them as a live album and in this instance unless i have the levels way under a competitive level i will leave as is, its part of the overall sound and capturing a moment in how i do things. Hope that helps! :)

I want to get AIRA Demora to hook up my MicroFreak and utilize the aira usb link to plug into mx1. but im afraid about the potential noise it creates

Hi dude, thanks for the bingeing! Good to meet you. I haven’t had any noise issues with the Toricido. I used its own power supply rather than powering it by usb from the mixer so perhaps this was an issue others had? The problem with noise is it could be to with power in their studio rather than the units themselves. I would say go for it!

@Wildb0y2 ай бұрын
Hi, the case in the video was made specifically for this setup. So I laid all the equipment out how I wanted it, made a bit of room for cables/power and sent the design off to swan flight cases. After using this case for a year its great, but heavy and I needed to make a setup that would be easier to travel with so I have made a dramatic change to swapped out most equipment for smaller / lighter and now use a "off the shelf case" from Nanuk.

How do you prevent all the symth from looping in the rc 505 if its last in your chain?
@Wildb0y5 ай бұрын
HI Simons, I have setup the Loopstation to loop just the mic input for the trumpet and the Nord drum. In fact I have dedicated loop buttons (1&2) for the trumpet and 3&4, for the Nord, then I have 5 spare for doing things with he mix. The routing is super flexible in the 505 mk2. A also have dedicated fx, filters, compression and eq for each of the inputs.
@Simonsmukke5 ай бұрын
@@Wildb0y Ahh that's clever!! What if you want to do like filter sweeps or effects for everything (the synths and the loops)? Is that possible somehow? I am figuring out my looping setup as well at the moment, so I am grateful for the help :)
@Wildb0y5 ай бұрын
Hi@@Simonsmukke so you have fx for audio on the way in and a separate fx ban for loops that have been recored. They are on the right of the 505. So what I do is have a filter & delay dedicated to the live rig input, you have to turn it on when you want to use it as it alters the sound slightly if its on all the time. To filter both an audio input and loops you ave recorded you would do this manually by setting up the same fx for loops turning both the adjustment knobs fob for the audio input fx and the loop fx. Does that make sense! TBH its a bit of a fad an I actually have a pioneer RMX-1000 which does a much better job as a master filter, so I tend use that when performing as its a much easier to grab and dial in quickly without too much thought and instead of pressing buttons then adjusting filters on the 505 mk2 hope that helps!

@Wildb0y7 ай бұрын
hi there, tr-8 yes but I don't know about the 707. I work ardour is to use the Roland modular series such as the "torcido" distortion unit that has usb out which can plug int the usb of the mx-1. This mean then you can plug anything you like into it via the Torcidos audio inputs.

Yo, thanks for taking the time to connect and write a message. I’m totally cool with any feedback, I have had the pleasure of writing and performing in a 8 piece band for 21 years. It has given me the experience to let go of ego and allow the music and ideas as a collective lead the way. It’s also the way I work as a producer when working artists on their music, supporting them to realise their creative ideas. Your thoughts here are welcome, and valid. The music I’m putting up here in this ‘Bali Kitchen series’ are ideas in their infancy, a work in progress to show others the stages of development pre release. I think sharing this process is useful for other budding producers and also great for me to return here and see where i was at and where these tracks are now as I develop them further and have a go at perform them live, allowing them to grow naturally through the feedback of real experience.
